Okay Vivian is the project of Turkish singer/producer Pervin Güzeldere. Shifting through experimental minimalist compositions to catchy pop elements; her music combines ethereal silent spaces with heavy beats, scattered vocals, breaths and whispers.
Since 2018 she has released two singles, a 7” vinyl and an EP; on labels such as Table Records (Ankara), No Exist (Montreal), Euphonic Recordings (Paris) and IA (Warsaw).
Performed in Ankara, İstanbul and Berlin with her live A/V performance ‘Wildflowers That Cannot Move But Can Bend And Twist’.

HYPERLINK MIX #13 w/ the homeopathics

The first mixtape of the year arrives with a label focus by Pointless Geometry, an independent label founded in 2015 by Justyna Banaszczyk (FOQL) and Darek Pietraszewski (aka VJ Copy Corp) in Warsaw, Poland.

The label specialises in tape releases of experimental electronic, electroacoustic and dance-esque music as well as audiovisual projects on VHS tapes and is one of the most interesting labels in Poland. During these last five years, the Pointless Geometry catalogue has grown to include 36 releases by WIDT, Mchy i Porosty, Jakub Lemiszewski, FOQL, Fischerle, Jakub Gliński and Muka, to name just some of the artists.
All the label entries are accompanied by a carefully designed graphic design, available in limited collector’s series, prepared by some the most interesting Polish artists such as Stachu Szumski, Sandra Sygur and Tomek Popakul.

And once or twice a year, Pointless Geometry releases an audiovisual project on VHS. These releases are limited to 20-30 copies. The team shares they don’t really make any profit on them, but they’ve turned into a small tradition of sorts. The whole topic of VHS recordings and analogue video is still interesting to explore and they get flooded with proposals.
For this mix, Pointless Geometry have included some tracks from their recent and upcoming premieres and from Pointless Geometry back catalogue.

CLOT Magazine presents POINTLESS GEOMETRY label focus

Presented as a re-creation of two live sets performed in 2019, Patrick Gallagher deftly melds field recordings, a "fairly standard" synthesis toolkit, and prepared electric guitar into two peerless electro-acoustic compositions comprising his debut for the enmossed x psychic liberation (ENXPL) series.

As the album's title implies, "Set In the Bardo" embraces indeterminacy in all respects. An extreme range of timbral variety and complexity is employed, from pure sine waves to nearly-incomprehensible sonic blasts. With a formal education in mathematics, Gallagher's astute arrangements modulate between smooth glissendos and abrupt interruptions, reflecting the compositional process used: salvaging hitherto-abandoned recordings and live snippets from the artist's archive. Post-processing was eschewed on the album in order to preserve the improvisatory nature of a live performance, giving an organic quality to the album which is often lost in academic compositions.

While "Set In the Bardo" was created in pre-pandemic times, it also functions well at this particular juncture of history. We have been 'set in the bardo' ourselves, and Gallagher has made an engrossing set of pieces - encapsulating and unfolding sonic uncertainties as we venture through trying times. Well worth many listening sessions; high volume and high fidelity during playback are recommended.

Gallagher arose from the North Carolina avant-garde underground, perfecting compositional processes with numerous live performances; as well as cassette and vinyl releases on Tone Log, Hot Releases, Refulgent Sepulchre, and other independent labels.
