Front de Cadeaux was born in Bruxelles when roman Dj Hugo Sanchez met a Italo/Belgian guy called Dj Athome. The first touch was in the middle of a sauna party for big hairy men, hot and wet. Dirty sex and sweat dreams were just the click. They soon discovered that their music universe were created to become one. Both in love with the green psychedelia and both disappointed by the gay clubbing scene where people dance if only the bpm is at a very high and stupid speed level.

After having dirty sex, they spent days listening and sampling vinyls played at the wrong speed, discovering and enjoying the sexy power of the supreme “rallentamento”. Front de Cadeaux, a name that will leave Belgian’s fan of the band Front 242 astonished, confused and upset, started to create their own musical experiments that impressed Hugo Sanchez’s mate Rodion (his brother in the Alien Alien project), who put his poetic and supreme production touch on it.
Fabrizio Mammarella joined us after listening this manifesto called Le Pédé BPM. His energy was exactly what we needed to give you more acid.

We don't care of the BPM phags, we just want a world where the body and music makes love slowly all night long and we will fight a war to make it happen!

Her Majesty’s Ship turns to emergent new talent La Mverte for its 11th release. The French artist has appeared on labels like Astro Lab in recent times and has shown himself to be someone with a fresh new perspective that takes cues from Italo disco with waves of metallic synths and muted rhythms all embedded within. This new EP comes backed with a remix from Acid Washed.
Up first is ‘Through The Circles’ which is a purposefully slow and wiggling groove that has a hint of dark biker disco to it. The drums are raw and loose and the synths are wide and searching, making for a delightfully cinematic experience from start to finish.
Next up is ‘The Rim is Shot’, another delightfully slo-mo swagger that has chattery claps, spikey synth stabs and wobbling basslines all dancing slowly around each other in loose limbed unison.
On the flip side, ‘Crash Course’ then ups the ante a little, laying down quicker drums and running them through with more tobacco stained synths and thick, rasping basslines. A filtered male voice beams down from above and brings a dark-wave vibe to proceedings, but La Mverte’s dazzling production still shines through.
Acid Washed, of labels like Record Makers & MB Disco, then reworks the track into something a little more kinked, funky and colourful. His playful version has dancing, nimble synth stabs and hip swinging percussive claps that work you into a dancing frenzy with ease.
It’s only early in the career of La Mverte, but on the evidence of this lively and arresting post- disco EP, he is sure to go on to big things in the near future.

   'A few years ago I took a journey to Europe searching for a new sound. People along the journey had been telling me about this guy from Tropea, Italy called DJ Steve (named after his favorite musician, Stevie Wonder).
   He's a butcher there by day, but at night he's the DJ at a club called Casablanca. I made my way to this tiny town in the south of Italy and found DJ Steve. His 12 hour DJ sets opened my eyes. This guy was the real deal. He was playing dubplates, vinyl, cassettes, and reel-to-reel's. All special edits he had done over the years. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

   In late November of 2011 DJ Steve finally made his first visit outside of Italy and came to New York. He came on my Beats In Space radio show and blew everyone away. It was one of the most listened to mixes of the year. While he was in New York, I was able to record in a few of the dubplates of edits he had done. Those recordings are how we arrived at the release of "DJ Steve's Special Cuts #1 & #2". With this release we also started a new sub-label for Beats In Space Records. B.I.S. Records, Inc is for any of the edits or bootlegs we might come across. Expect to hear more from DJ Steve soon.'

And how about two 10 year old twins from Possil (via Ghana) covering the infectious minimal dance grooves of New York's finest, ESG?

A debut release for both band and label, Parisian duo Paradis' bring two eloquently produced tracks to Beats In Space in the form of the Parfait Tirage b/w La Ballade de Jim 12" (BIS001). Admirers from afar of DJ Tim Sweeney's weekly on air institution of 12 years (from which the label takes its name), Paradis submitted demos hoping they might hack it for some play time. 

Reared on classical and jazz, turned young hip hop rebels, turned teen club crawlers, and then university machine tinkerers, Simon Mï¿½ny & Pierre Rousseau grew out of genre jumping while young enough to stay ahead and settle into music making centered around melody and emotion. 

This touchstone approach is perfectly apparent on "Parfait Tirage", a track built around sublime synth ambiance, a compelling sequence lead, and what will one day be unmistakably recognized as the Paradis vocal sound. The b-side, "La Ballade of Jim", is a deep techno take on beloved French artist Alain Souchon's track from the 80s, and already a staple in Sweeney's live set. 

Each 12" from Beats in Space features original artwork in considerate & serial form. The first 12" features artwork by Bjorn Copeland, a 21st century schizoid collagist and member of NYC experimental music legends Black Dice. The 12" packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a vinyl BIS logo cling. The 12" will be available on September 20th, 2011 from fine retailers worldwide. The digital version will be available October 4th, 2011 from the drab internet universe.

When the talented Michoacan released D.S.S.G. a few years ago, the Eskimo crew fell instantly in love with the track. The original is a top notch crossover production that is situated somewhere between house, rock and electro, with vocals catchy as hell.

Eskimo now presents the Disco Sucks So Good remixes. Martin Dubka’s remix has ‘disco’ written all over it (what’s in a name?), while Tiger Stripes gives the track a sultry swing. Kasper Bjørke’s spaced out reinterpretation really finishes off this remix package. Just the way we like it.

When I first found Sébastien’s music on Soundcloud about 18 months ago, I knew I had struck gold.  He sent me “Ana” to try out and it became my most played record of 2012. It was released as part of CLOUDED 010 – The Clouded Vision Experiment, which has since received critical acclaim from across the globe.

Upon asking him for more tracks throughout the latter part of 2012, he became prolific at catering to my tastes.  The title track from his debut EP, “Freaking Slowly” has become my most sought after secret weapon from a number of DJ’s, bloggers and dancers.  

Based in the south of France, Sébastien has been a resident DJ at the Bindy Club in Pau, where he has played alongside some of the most renowned artists of the French scene, including Chloé, Ivan Smagghe and Jennifer Cardini.  

Sébastien has developed a sound that is melodic, powerful and elegant.  Each track builds into a crescendo, without ever needing to be forceful or abrasive.  I wanted one remix, something totally different and the one act I had in mind was Red Axes.  I met them both recently in Tel Aviv and we talked about remixes for the label and they soon came up trumps.  By re-playing the entire track with live drums and guitars, Red Axes and have turned “Ana” into a low-slung techno-rockabilly dance floor gem.
