Carlos Francisco Biography (December 2013)


Carlos Francisco started his career in Spain in local bars and clubs close to Barcelona at holiday destination Costa Brava. The early nineties were spent learning the craft of turntablism skills so often lacking in today’s break-through ‘DJs’ during marathon nightly 10 hour sets.
A pure passion for 4x4 was conceived from the first electronic sounds of the early 80's like Cybetron 'Clear' and 'Planet Rock' but it was the birth of the House marked by tracks by the likes of Fingers Inc. and Marshal Jefferson that was eventually responsible for a healthy 10,000+ vinyl collection, lots of partying and over 20 years in the electronic dance scene to date.

In 1994, Carlos was taken on board by a London promoter and begun spinning at more well known clubs like Bagleys, The Cross, Turnmills, Pacha and eventually a 6 year stint and Rulin' at the Ministry of Sound. It is from here that the Dance Nation and other tours occurred taking him to many countries and venues around the globe. 
Natural progression lead Carlos in to the studio to experiment with his beloved sound. Over the last decade the fruits of his music production have lead to some great success.  His first vinyl release 'Sun Sacrifice' was pressed in 2000 with Javi Colors (Stereo Recordings) and shortly after La Liga on DTPM's label DTrax won support from Roger Sanchez, Tom Stephan and John Cutler.
In 2006 Carlos launched his own electronic music label 'SP Recordings' at the legendary Turnmills (London) in 2006. The label has over 60 releases from new and established artists from around the world.
In 2009 Carlos moved to Brazil were he has set up his label headquarters and production studio. It is here were the latest productions have taken things to another level.

Over the last year, tracks have been released on his own SP imprint and many other reputable labels like Kolour, Blacksoul Music, HEAVY, Celestial Recordings, Grooveland, Endemic, Soundmenonwax, Groove On and Unrivaled Music to name a few.
Recent works including a remix for Aki Bergen 'Love Honey' on Kolour Recordings and a Original release on Soundmenonwax titled 'Drums of Kadoma' have won support from the likes of Dj Sneak, Herman Catanneo, Osunlade and other big players on the scene. 'Drums of Kadoma' reached number 3 on the Traxsource Afro House Charts and was in the top 10 for over 4 weeks)  
Other releases are set in the pipeline for the beginning of 2014 including 'We Remember You' which will include a remix from Nu Disco king Mr Jools on BlacksoulMusic, a label responsible for many top 10 hits.

On the DJ side, Carlos has two weekly residencies including 'Orbita' on Sunday night/ Monday morning in Brazils 4rth largest city. This is the busiest Sunday night in Fortaleza were the crowd is always 1500+ 
His Friday night project 'Lo Sessions' at LO is at one of the cities more refined lounge and bar restaurants. 
December will see Carlos at the DAP festival in Berlin with Armand Van Helden, Blake Baxter and other big stars.

Arjun Vagale swings and steamrolls through the night, combining a crackling rhythm section with sharp synths and menacing pad stabs. In this version we get a more obvious nod to the original&#8217;s &#8220;woodpecking&#8221; which effortlessly steps things up to new levels.</p>
