Granted Ritchie Blackmore and Randy Rhoads showed glimpses of that but neither truly took it to the level Yngwie did in the early 80's. At the time everyone was obsessed with Eddie Van Halen's tapping wizardry and out of nowhere the Swedish guitar assassin took everyone by storm.
