The Southern returns to CLR with the ‘B2basic’ EP. The three-track EP includes a remix from Chicagoan Techno legend DJ Rush.

The Southern returns to Chris Liebing’s CLR this March with the ‘B2basic’ EP, following his two-part ‘Particle’ EP on the label in 2024. Up first is title track ‘B2basic’, a fully-charged cut laced with a wigged-out acid line, primed for peak-time club action. Then comes Chicago’s DJ Rush with the remix, a thrashing interpretation defined by layers of syncopated high-hats whilst a brooding synth guides you into a sense of warehouse rave nostalgia. Lastly, ‘Beg It’ works stripped-back, snare-rattling techno loops to create mesmerising space and depth for the closing track.

The Southern’s high-grade techno has gained support from industry heavyweights like Robert Hood, Ben Sims, Amelie Lens, and many more on impressive imprints such as Truncate, On Edge Society, Kneaded Pains, and, of course, CLR, on which he has become one of the label’s leading artists.

Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has hosted a range of artists like Shlomi Aber, Dubfire, Flug, Bjarki, DJ Dextro and more while also focusing on developing newer acts in the scene such as Risa Taniguchi and Klint.

John Bromage, aka Product 19, became one of Pittsburgh’s most established underground dance music DJ’s and moved on to establishing himself as a recognizable name in the U.K., Europe, South America and beyond. Starting over 25 years ago, he has played with some of the biggest names in music ranging from Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), Afrika Bambaata and Lords of Acid to Carl Cox, Umek, Chris Liberator, DJ Rush and Juan Atkins at some of the largest and highest quality parties in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe and Brazil. With major US residencies at The Matrix, Metropol, Club Laga, and Zythos, Product 19 is no stranger to playing for club crowds. He has performed at clubs and parties in cities such as Barcelona, Valencia, La Coruña, Krakow, Naples, Wroclaw, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland, Montreal, Toronto, San Francisco, Cleveland, Washington DC, Detroit, Santiago, Sao Paolo, Curitiba and many more.

In 1997, he was asked to compete in the “Battle of the DJ’s” at Buzz, the biggest club night in the US, in Washington DC. In 2000, he travelled to the UK for a three week tour where he performed in London, Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield, Devon, and Skegness. He toured on numerous occasions again based on the audience response he received eventually relocating to London where he resides now as well as in LA.

For several years he hosted the live weekly radio show ‘Tear Your Clothes Off with Product 19’ on Fridays on Montreal station www.techno.fm featuring the Kinetec Records crew and international guest DJs mixing all subgenres of techno.

Currently, you can find Product 19 playing out across North America, South America and Europe playing funky and edgy European-influenced techno at raves and larger clubs plus funky techno, tribal, tech-house or electrohouse at smaller clubs and lounges.

Product 19 continues to pursue his interests in music production. During one of his early trips to England, he co-produced tracks with DJ/producer Roland Deem aka Rowland the Bastard (Infected, Bionic Orange, Planet Rhythm, Smitten, Stay Up Forever) for his label Infected Recordings. He worked with Ant (Powertools, Hydraulix, Stay Up Forever) for the track “Blue Black” on Chris Liberator’s label Maximum/Minimum. Most recently Product 19 released 4 tracks for the label BR 909 with Rhythm Logistics, Guy McAffer and Ant.

Dj Eks was born in Switzerland in 1975.
In 1980, and thanks to his older brother, he discovered the world of music, with groups like The Cure, Depeche Mode, Souxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus and others.He has been passionate about the hip-hop culture since 1986.Towards the end of the eighties and the beginning of the nineties, his other brother often travelled to London where he took part in raves. He brought Dj Eks his first mixtape - breakbeat and drum'n'bass. Dj Eks went to his first rave in 1992 and then discovered the world of clubbing. In 1993, following a car accident, he dived into mixing and bought his first pair of Technics SL1200 turntables.
He started to play hardcore and gabber, then fell into acid techno and a range of other genres he still loved.
Nowadays, he mostly plays , acidcore, mental tekno, tribe, rave, and industrial techno
