ClrConscience’s “Strictly 4 My Negus" is an unapologetic dive into the plight of African Americans and a reflection of recent events in his life. Inspired by Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album "To Pimp A butterfly," where Kendrick introduces the term "Negus" to the mainstream and Tupac's 1993 album "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z," the mc/poet addresses his take on the issues that plague African Americans, the effects that the black experience has had on him growing up, and the deep psychological effects of America’s wrongdoing. From tracks like “Open Season ” and “On A Mission,” to “Queen (Thank You, India Arie)” and Heartbeat,” “Strictly 4 My Negus” offers an experience for the audience that is sure to be felt.  If there’s anything to take away from this debut project, it’s Clr’s unshakable beliefs and passion for what he does. He easily puts himself in a lane of his own right out the gate.

ClrConscience’s single “Queen (Thank You, India Arie)” is primarily an ode to African American women, but it also serves as an inspirational track for the African American community as a whole. Inspired by India Arie’s “Video,” the production is all-live instrumentation by Ayiana Maria, who also lends her soulful voice to the hook reminiscent of the 2001 hit but with a small twist. On this track, Clr honors African American women while championing unity and the idea of “taking care of home first.” Given today’s climate, the vibe of this song is certain to resonate with listeners for a long time.
