The second release with a "samurai" title from The Eighth. The 27-track album "Samurai File" is essentially a compilation consisting of two previously released EPs, unreleased demos, and a reissue of the Time-Travelling Samurai album.

Musically, it's abstract hip-hop and acid jazz steeped in lo-fi and broadway aesthetics. Recorded in an Ardour 5 DAW running in a Debian Linux environment.The album uses digital-analog sound processing with a Roland SP-404SX sampler and an Elektron Analog Heat effects processor. Digital remasters are done in REAPER.

"I originally had the idea of writing a short story with a retro-futuristic theme, featuring a time-traveling samurai and a detective from the future trying to catch him. In a kind of philosophical sense, I'm like a 'time-traveling samurai' myself - I worked on these tracks for several years, dropping them many times, then coming back to them again and almost ruining the whole project in an extremely long production process" - The Eighth.

The release "Онега" (Onega) mixes #hiphop experimental beats, electronics and #authentic instruments. In particular: recordings of Solovetsky choir, Bulgarian and Pomeranian tunes, sampled Scandinavian taglharpa (bowed instrument) and Carpathian kalyuka (flute). The bass lines are played on a Dreadbox Typhon analog synthesizer assembled in Greece. On the mini-album there is a place both for old Russian melancholy and ritual dance tunes.

Listen track from the third official album by the French duo Arom. 

These songs were recorded in 2002-2004. However, the duo broke up and the songs - mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios - went into oblivion after a while and were not published. Twenty years later, Label Cantroll releases two full-lengths: the eponymous Arom and A La Vie. This was made possible thanks to a label listener who spent a year looking for writers, convincing them to officially publish the songs and collecting all the source material. 

Their music is trip-hop and indie pop, created with groovebox and synths, constantly going into different sounds - trip-rock, soul or acid jazz. The main thing is the vocals in French and English, somewhat reminiscent of Björk. The authors of the project are Dominique for the music and Caroline for the vocals. The name Arom is a combination of the letters of the names (cARoline and dOMinique).

"I got acquainted with Arom in my favorite column on Label Cantroll's VK page, where they published the debut album. At first I liked the cover and the intriguing name of the band, but after listening - it became clear that this is one of the best albums I've ever listened to. I wanted to find more music. I found a piece of video with an old recording of the concert on the Ukrainian TV channel M1. I made a 4K remaster and decided to show the result to the authors as a thank you. And here begins a real detective story. The band is extremely unknown. Only two LP-albums, and the second one disappeared from the public domain in 2011 as a result of the MySpace collapse. I had to write in general to everyone who was in the Facebook community with a request to help contact the artists, show me my remaster and find out the fate of the songs.

Several people responded and helped me find the singer, Caroline, including her cousin by happy coincidence. Thus the first contact was established.

Later, the author of the music, Dominique, was also found. He did not answer for a long time. There was nothing to do but keep searching for the songs myself and hope for a miracle. On the Discogs page I wrote to all five owners of the CD and received an answer from one fan. He still had a copy of the album. I was satisfied for a while, but the thirst for new music and the sadness of not having it anymore made me search for more information and live recordings. A YEAR LATER, Dominique's answer came. We had a productive conversation and he promised to send us the second album in good quality.

Another six months passed. Dominique sends me the master versions: the complete second album, the lost songs from MySpace and the unreleased tracks. After telling this story to Mark Shishlev, we decided to revive the project: draw up documents, make artcovers and officially release two LP releases one year apart," - Alexey Dormidoshko, music enthusiast.

@chromatic_fields is an instrumental electronic project founded in 2019 by composer Ilya Sakharov. The name of the project is a reference to color (chromatic) fields from color theory, which include different colors and shades in a certain sequence. И основан основан на трёх идеях: ритм+шум, мелодические вариации+жирная низкочастотная линия, постепенно преобразование трека в единое целое их соединением. Здесь много искажений, компрессии. Повторяющиеся пассажи, плавно сменяют друг друга, всё это сопровождается ритмичным низкочастотным биением, придавая звуку ощущение замкнутости и скованности. "This summer album is special for me. I recorded sounds at home, on walks and on travel. I want to list the main ideas. Home recording: fingering objects on the desktop, rustling with packaging and paper, the sounds of scissors and nails, a quiet metal rattle, a touch of brushes, jars of sand and water. The whole track is dedicated to the sounds and rustles in the bathroom. It turned out very intimate. On a walk around the field, I saw a makeshift device that was apparently used to scare away birds. In the wind, it made a very hypnotic and consistent knock. To this I added a light and a low rumble".

“On vacation, I managed to get on a small cruise on a ship with morning scuba diving. This track has a strange cabin crack, deck noise, submersion and the sounds of old vinyl. I hope you enjoy my experts. Listen in headphones before sleep".

Among the projects we can mention international trip-hop music festivals "Metagalaxy", which united more than 30 bands from different cities and countries (including - Iuno, Micatone, 9Lazy9, Hidden Orchestra, Arts The Beatdoctor, Skiggy Rapz, The Herbaliser, Sofa Surfers, Bugge Wesseltoft, Doctor Flake, Glen Porter, Elsiane, Flunk).
