Jack Dun­ning aka Untold is cur­rently releas­ing some of the finest bound­ary push­ing music around, simul­ta­ne­ously blast­ing dance­floors and attract­ing world­wide crit­i­cal acclaim. So how did we get here?

Hav­ing pro­duced music in a bed­room set up for years as a young 20 some­thing, a drain­ing stint of higher edu­ca­tion forced him to down tools “an Elec­tronic Music degree ruined my enjoy­ment of writ­ing for ages”, Jack remem­bers. But these were just years of hiber­na­tion and the time to develop a career in graphic design that put food on the table. The cat­a­lyst for a musi­cal renais­sance came in 2005 after a les­son in sub bass at the then fledg­ling DMZ, the world’s most impor­tant dub­step night.

“It was the purity of the atmos­phere and the sub bass that got me. Every­one in the room seemed totally locked on to each tune, there was a crazy energy in the place. After going to my first dance at Third Base I knew I had to start writ­ing music again.”

Picked up in early 2008 by Hessle Audio, his King­dom EP was the third release of the then fledg­ling imprint, intro­duced a sonic palate that was nuanced, under­stated but with bags of bass weight. Here were the early indi­ca­tors of what was to become a fierce sonic arse­nal – the mutant, blunt edges of his synth play, an intri­cate tapes­try of detail which added depth and longevity, but barely audi­ble to even to the geeki­est of listeners.

By early 2009 Jack had been ham­mer­ing a selec­tion of awe­somely anachro­nis­tic and symp­to­matic music on CDR; fuel for an ever grow­ing DJ sched­ule. For those that were lucky enough to be caught in a rave when the awk­ward, stac­cato bleeps of Ana­conda assaulted the ear drums, you knew this was an artists to take 100% seri­ously. Played by DJ’s span­ning gen­res, coun­tries and vast age groups, this 12” release on the Hessle Audio label showed the elec­tronic world they had a new artist with a highly dis­tinc­tive sound to get their teeth into.

2009 unfolded with a slew of essen­tial remixes for 2nd Drop and Planet Mu, along­side orig­i­nal mate­r­ial on Hot­flush and Brain­math. Jack’s largest body of work has been the 6 track EP on his own Hem­lock label who he runs with his mate Andy. The Gonna Work Out Fine Ep was a col­lec­tion of tracks that pushed the genre bound­aries — this wasn’t dub­step, if dub­step was half step wob­ble than this was the anti-christ – and could be seen gaz­ing off into the near future of pro­gres­sive dance­floors and vinyl con­nois­seurs every­where. Stilted rhythms meet, jilted synths and squashed drums with the ever-present specter of grime lurk­ing on the periph­eries. But this EP also pro­vided an insight into Jack’s wider music palate, your can here clas­sic house in the keys of Don’t Know Don’t Care and Never Went Away, the ravey synths of later day hard­core and jun­gle on Palamino. But it’s not always about look­ing back, explo­ration of bpms cre­ates new hybrids, and the low-fi swing of No One Likes A Smart Arse demon­strates his twisted take on dark garage and the funky skele­ton of Palamino off­sets the afore­men­tioned nos­tal­gic melodies.

2010 holds fur­ther promise. Hav­ing just remixed Ke$ha’s #1 Hit “Tik Tok” and signed a col­lab­o­ra­tion with Roska to Num­bers com­ing later in the year, more releases on Hem­lock of his own mate­r­ial is a given. Jack con­tin­ues to show his A&R spurs with the likes of Mount Kim­bie, James Blake, Cos­min TRG and Ramadan­man grac­ing the label.

Cisco was originally meant to play for us in August 2021 but Covid put a stop to that; thankfully we were able to fulfil our goal of having him to play for us and it couldn't have gone any better in our honest opinion.

Despite the high level of production quality in her work, Irish-born Kerrie is a relative newcomer. Nowadays her calendar’s filling up with gigs from Medellín to her adoptive city of Manchester, but for a long time she honed her skills on the other side of the decks and at the latter’s Eastern Bloc. These formative years have now blossomed into a fully fledged career as head of her own Dark Machine Funk label and as published artist under Don’t Be Afraid and I Love Acid to name a few. Her trademark is hulking, angular cuts and grainy, analog textures of the Blueprint stripe, a label which has fittingly taken her under its wing with her Raw Regimen EP just released in March. Bassiani Podcast 127 is a serpentine, kick-heavy studio mix by the new and exciting talent.

We are delighted to feature Belfast native Nez to our Mixtape series. Anyone who is into the Irish techno scene knows that Nez needs no introduction.

Nez is an obsessive vinyl collector, DJ and lover of all genres of electronic music specializing in techno, electro, acid and jungle. He started djing around the Belfast scene in 1998 and earned himself his first resident DJ spot at the Evolution nights in the legendary Vico’s Club.  Since then he has co-promoted De-Vice in Leeds, Grub with Boxctutter, Pressure, Scope, Beat BBQ and held down a residency DSNT for 10 years and is a regular performer for AVA Festival, played all the major clubs up and down Ireland and has djed all over Europe sharing the stage warming up for a who's who of electronic music, too many names to mention.  
The highlights of his career so far was playing a set for the infamous AVA Boiler Room and a closing set in Tresor Berlin.  Currently he is co promoter of a new night Coda  and is label boss Computer Controlled.

A well known face in our clubs for well over 20 years now both DJing and on nights out, for those of you from Belfast, Blark (AKA Blacky) shouldn't really need any introduction. As one of our residents, I can't believe it's taken us until number 12 in the series to get a mix out of him, considering he's never off the decks.

His style and sound is dark & driving techno with more dubby selections intertwined. Oisin has supported a range of high profile artists in his time in the booth such as Francois X, Tommy Holohan, Paula Temple, Fjaak to name a few. along with playing at events such as Fuinneamh, Outset Festival, Electric Picnic & Silo Dublin, and with gigs lined up in Belfast and beyond over the next couple of months 2025 looks bright for this young artist.

UK based Fractious (Stephen Garrett) has firmly fitted himself into the international techno community, providing his own unique blend of RAW/Hypnotic Techno. Having caught the attention of Christian Smith, he immediately signed him to his powerhouse label Tronic Kevin Saunderson followed suit signing Fractious to his KMS Records, Rino Cerrone (RIP) to Unrilis, Hertz to his SWAY label and regularly on Kaiserdisco's label KD RAW which seen big support from Carl Cox, Truncate and Tiger Stripes on his Drumcode Radio mix also smashing the Beatport Techno Hype Charts at no. 5!!  Fractious has seen a string of top 10's over the last few years which is a testament to his hard work and passion for techno!!


Fractious is kept busy in the studio and you can find him touring India and cities such as Helsinki, Paris, Oslo, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Dublin and many more

LORCAN is a 22 year old Techno DJ/Producer Hailing from County Down Ireland.

His infectious yet deep sets are sure to take the crowd on a journey. With a headline show in London and supporting some of the games biggest DJs on the big stage!

Lorcan's recent productions have caught traction with the Heavy hitters in the  Techno scene with his recent tracks being supported by DAX J,DJ SWISHERMAN,GRACE DAHL,RANDOMER,FRANÇOIS X,and many more.

The young Irish man is one to keep an eye out for with plenty of Label releases and big stage debuts to follow in 2025.

Coda Mix 048 - Lorcan Ruane

Along with his passion for electronic music Gerryboo, Geebo, Gerry Macca, The Mac Attack has not been a stranger to controversy;  from allegedly setting fire to sound systems at festivals, fighting with a BBM magazine journalist and consistently playing Born Slippy at plus 8.  In an interview with now defunct lads magazine FHM in 2007 the Belfast based DJ admitted that his trajectory from the The Bedroom DJ’s DJ’ to the king of ‘Clubs in Pubs’ scene has been “less than ideal” and went on to tell the interviewer “I’m the dj Belfast deserved but not the one it needed”.  This interview subsequently lead to a dogpile on the now defunct social media platform Bebo which forced the now hyphonated ‘G-bo’ into relative obscurity.  Since then he has partnered and broke bread with local clubbing institutions like Shine, Twitch, Acroplane Recordings, DSNT et al and went to meet, greet, wine, dine and warm up for the likes of Radioactive Man, Skudge, Sunil Sharpe, Ceephax Acid Crew, Inigo Kennedy, Untold, Boddika et al.
