Unity Underground Live Stream #001 26th March 2023 - RACH/King Chuga

Krugah - BK Badman EP (PRE-ORDER AVAILABLE)

Atmospheric grand master Okee returns to Codename: RCRDS with two stunning new tracks, which are complemented by reworks from label co-owner Moakz and rising stars Missen.

The EP opens with the title track ‘Soul Temptation’, a sublime jazz-inflected which has all the hallmarks of a classic Okee piece – classic vocals, beautifully precise breaks, percussive bass fills and warm synths and tones.

‘If You Believe’ moves things into a deeper direction, encouraging the listener to believe in its refined combination of stabbing bass, catchy vocals, haunting atmospheres and intricate synth work.

Moakz pushes the track further on his rework of ‘If You Believe’, stripping back elements to pursue a darker edge with the pounding bass brought to the fore alongside chunky deep breaks interspersed with snappy think breaks, before Missen close the EP with their uptempo rework of ‘Soul Temptation’, which retains the soulfulness of the original whilst pushing things further into a bouncier dancefloor direction with it’s locked groove and tightly knitted drums.

CODERCRDS012 - Okee - Soul Temptation (OUT 10/11/23)

Codename: RCRDS are proud to present a new trilogy of various artist releases, focussing once again on the broken breaks of jungle and 160 riddims. 

Broken Lands EP commences with Neekeetone’s incredible ‘Murderer’, where a gorgeous evolving intro gives way to warped basslines and the artist’s ever-engaging drum work.  The EP continues with the superbly talented Wez Walker making a first appearance on the label, showing deft skill at turning his hand to jungle sounds on ‘Under The Surface’, with creative choppage and mangled bass finding homes alongside classic vocal samples for a track which has been picking up lots of dancefloor action at our Codename: Amen events.

Bristol’s Eminence contributes her first solo track to the label with the rolling ‘Mix It Up’, which contrasts hypnotic rhythms and rolling breaks with more introspective stripped back moments and intricate drum edits.  The EP closes on a high with Cold Leader’s ‘Play It’, an early hour’s brain-mangling gem full of old skool b-boy attitude which contrast with classic V era stylings.

GM Guest Mix number one hundred and forty three comes Berlin based DJ and producer DJ Chromz. With a focus on Jungle, he takes his inspiration from Dub, Reggae and sound system culture. He leans heavily into the scene's golden era whilst keeping his sound fresh and dynamic. Check out his releases on Future Retro and Disrupt Records.
