The EP opens with ‘Siren’s Call’, a deep stepper with hypnotic vocals beckoning you towards temptation.  ‘Tempest Arise’ showcases a distinctive combination of both techier elements and ethnic instrumentation, soundtracking the journey to magical islands foreshadowing an enveloping storm, ‘Science Fiction’ takes us on a journey to a future utopia before the release closes with the powerful world of ‘Hyperion’ takes us into the domain of the gods themselves.

Opener 'Blue Salute' provides a killer combination of snappy breaks, rolling arpeggios and driving bass, before 'Seek & Find' move things into a deeper direction with its warm vocals and evolving leads.

Sub-shaking title track 'Find My Peace' rolls along beautifully before the intricate and driving number 'The Redeemer' takes centre stage. The EP closes with the dreamlike organ tones and synth stabs of 'Memories of Shepherd's Bush'.

NonRev - Petrol Nights EP

NonRev returns once again to Codename with 'Petrol Nights EP', which demonstrates once again the continued evolution of this fantastic artists trademark sound.

Atmospheric amen workout 'Fell Apart' opens the EP with it's combination and deep strings and ruff breaks, before 'Intrinsic Grey' offers up moodier vibes with its atmospheric keys and beautifully edited drum work.

'Nano Technology' utilises an optimistic key progression alongside it's driving cybernetic rhythms before the title track 'Petrol Nights' takes us into a night time drive to nowhere, eerily sound-tracking the early morning journey back from a rave to destination unknown.

'Sensations' brings warmer, subtle brass tones and Rhodes keys into play alongside its fascinatingly intricate shuffling rhythms, before the EP closes with a first as NonRev provides his own vocals for the stunning guitar led 'Forgot To Breathe'.

CODERCRDS047 - NonRev - Petrol Nights (Clips)

Starski makes his Codename: RCRDS entrance with 'Old Ghosts EP', which perfectly blends a mix of old skool rave vibes with cutting edge atmospherics.

The EP opens with 'Ghosts', where dreamy pads cross paths with bass stabs and snappy drums, before the stunning 'Clear Vision' drops, with it's warm intro leading into rolling breaks and catch vocal snippets. 

Piano-led 'Spellbound' unwinds things further with a deep melancholy feel before 'The Love' closes the EP on a high with its emotive pads and dreamlike atmospherics.

A solid label debut from an artist to watch.

New Zealand's talented Midnight Dubs makes his Codename: RCRDS debut with 'Generations EP'. This jazz, funk and hip hop inflected release opens with 'Improvise Wisely' where catchy vocal samples entwine with rolling breaks, brass and keys to stylishly open the release. 'Generations' moves in a deeper jazzier direction with steppier breaks and rolling bass evoking classic era atmospheric sounds. '

Love Divine' breaks delicate female vocals into the mix before it's sublime intro gives way to delicately edited drumwork, before 'Cloudbreak' works things further along it's jazzy path before we move onto closing track 'One More Forward' which rolls out into a an altogether darker bleep influence drumfunk rollout - perfect for the heads down dancefloors.

An excellent full debut release from an artist to watch.
