This week we highlight the work of UK Electro wizard Phil Klein, also known as Bass Junkie. 

Starting in 1996, Phil began 'Battle Trax' to distribute his brutal brand of bass-fuelled beats, though he has released music since 94. Fans were soon enjoying large doses of Cybernet Systems, Final Dreams, Industrial Bass Machines and Kronos Devices - all variants of the highly addictive Bass Junkie sound. This track comes right off his 2009 release 'Comply', though the song was originally released in 2003 on the legendary ‘Breakin’ Records’.

Irish producer, DJ and radio host Mr. Spring aka Replicants, joins the German label Electro Empire for two hot jams.

The versed multi-genre music writer, who has been active since the early 90's under various aliases, starts this purely hardware production based package with the powerful "I Like The Way You Crunch". This original version of the earlier released "I like The Way You Focus", offers energetic broken #808 beats, punchy basslines, a mighty string machine break and sinisterly mumbled #vocoder magic.

Second song "Jiro", a tribute to legendary sushi chef Jiro Ono, is a classic old school #Electrofunk Breakdance anthem. Next to the featured Extended Mix, 5-times Irish DMC mixing champion DJ Mek contributes a remix with an extra portion of fresh scratches and funky edits.

Code Rising - Move Your Body

Code Rising is an American Electro duo that was formed in 2010 and consists of Matt Lancaster (South Carolina) and Ryan Phillips (South Florida). Over the years, Code Rising has shared the stage and worked with some of the biggest names in the Electro music scene; performing live mainly in Miami and the surrounding Florida coasts.

After a healthy line of digital releases on Monotone Records from 2010-2013, the duo saw the release of their first full-length CD "Dissemination Protocol" on their own label, Propulsion Recordings. 2021 saw the largest release from the duo yet; "A Spectral Odyssey" was released digitally via BandCamp with a whopping 18 track playlist. Accounting for original and collaborative work, the duo have more than several 12" EP releases in their catalogue. Most of the Code's discography can be found on Soundcloud and Bandcamp!
