smoug is an instrumental post rock band from both Toyama and Tokyo, Japan. They released their debut album "Cloud Sprout" on Tokyo's Preco Records in 2013. The recording lays bare the influence of post rock bands from the early 2000s, such as Hood, epic45, Mercury Program, Howard Hello,and The Album Leaf with slow building melodies setting up a dreamy, sentimental atmosphere.

"Do Not Disturb" is the follow on remix album featuring artists from right across the spectrum of Japan's electronic music scene, featuring remixes from aus (flau), Ametsub (nothings66), mergrim (moph) and Cuushe (flau). They reinterpreted the tracks with a dancier vibe, adding their own unique twists to give something fresh to smoug's sound.

The album also features one previously unreleased track "Hail To You" an dtwo alternate takes on album tracks "The Long Morning Counterclockwise" and "Chip". This remix album is for fans of post rock, electronica & dance music.

"Do Not Disturb" will be released on LP (with free CD version of the album) on Tokei Records, December 2014.

昨年2013年にデビュー・アルバム『Cloud Sprout』をリリースした、富山と東京の5人組 smougのリミックス作品をLP+CDでリリース。メロディックなアコースティック・サウンドと、アナログ感のあるウォーミーなエレクトロニック・サウンドがブレンドされた、smougのエレクトロニカ＋ポスト・ロック・サウンドを、Ametsub、mergrim、aus、Cuusheなど日本のエレクトロニカ～エレクトロニック・ミュージック・シーンを代表する豪華アーティスト達がリミックス。

躍動するリズミカルなビートと、きらびやかで色彩豊かなエレクトロニック・サウンドが鮮やかに行き交う、Ametsub、mergrim、ausの三者三様の類稀なる才能が発揮されたリミックス・トラックは、それぞれのオリジナリティのある世界観が絶妙に溶け込んだ、イマジネーション溢れるダンサブルなトラックに。また、日本が世界に誇るインディー・ミュージック界の歌姫Cuusheは、smougのインストのオリジナル・トラックにその美しい歌声とメロディで魔法をかけたヴォーカル・バージョンを披露。なだらかなループ・サウンドが心地良いサウンドに新風を吹き込み、キャッチーで艶やかなCMソングのような希代のポップ・チューンへと進化させています。

Music Producer

Born amidst the forested mountains where the Shimanto River begins its quiet journey in Ehime, Japan.
Her artistic voice first emerged during her time at music university, where she explored the fringes of electronic and contemporary sound, eventually bringing her sonic world to life on stage.
In 2007, she released her debut album Mirror Flake, followed by Your Thorn in 2011 - works that led her to perform across Denmark, Australia, and throughout Asia, weaving delicate, immersive live experiences.
In 2016, she collaborated with visual artist Akiyoshi Kitagawa on sidhe, a multi-channel sound installation enveloping VACANT in Harajuku with haunting layers of sound and image, accompanied by a 60-minute soundtrack.
After a period of quiet, she returned with the EP Koya in 2021 and Zanzo in 2024 - meditative works echoing landscapes both internal and external. Beyond her personal creations, her music has found homes in film (Confessions by Tetsuya Nakashima), television and web commercials (including for KOSE Sekkisei and SONY), animated works, and runway shows - each a canvas for her intimate and textured soundscapes.
