This is, to me, the bravest LBJ (little brown job) of all. During the breeding season Meadow pipits perform what is know as ‘parachute’ display flights, in order to attract a mate. It literally gives itself away as if singing ‘i’m all yours, take me!’ (or the peregrine falcon will…). You can hear the beautiful descending notes in this recording, made on a windy day.

Butor étoilé, Rainette verte , Rousserolle turdoïde, Blongios nain, Locustelle luscinioide, Rossignol philomèle, Coucou gris, Chouette hulotte, Phragmite des joncs etc... Mais aussi hélas sanglier dans la roselière !

A long format recording of rainfall in the heart of the forest, recorded using an overnight drop rig with mics attached to either side of a large tree trunk. 

There is a saying that it always rains twice in the forest, firstly as rain falls from the sky onto the tree canopy and secondly as rain drops held within the canopy then fall to the ground. Throughout this 1h30 recording we hear different textures from light rain to heavy downpours as well as this secondary forest rain.

Mohammad Abu Al Qumsan had two babies and a loving wife.

Now he has nobody.

An Israeli airstrike killed both his babies, and their mother, and their grandmother, while he was out collecting their birth certificates. 

They had just been born.

A herd of red cows approaching us from front and passing by on a warm September noon of 2019 at the hills of Southern Urals. Lots of energetic mooing, shepherd shouts and whistles, some birds chirping and moderate wind. I love this recording for its brutal and raw energy.
Recorded with Nevaton VR FOA mic into Zaxcom Fusion 12, decoded to binaural with Harpex-X plugin. Please listen on headphones for correct spatial reproduction.
