I was born in the '80s and fell in love with the sound of it when I was just a little boy. This love only grew stronger when I started DJ'ing and discovered more music from the '80s and the wonderful remixes producers made.

For a long time, I wanted to record a set solely with remixes of '80s songs. I mainly selected remixes that stay true to the original, but just have that little 'extra' to make them 21st-century proof.

A little warning: It might feel like drinking from a firehose. It might be too much for some. Hopefully, it can still be an inspiration for some amazing remixes of songs. Enjoy this walk down memory lane!

Step Daw는 크루 'INTO THE DEEP'의 창립자로, 2011년 Arthur Lastmann과 함께 시작하여 2012년 이후 파리 언더그라운드 전자 음악 씬의 혁신에 핵심적인 역할을 해왔다. Djoon을 시작으로 Badaboum의 레지던시를 거쳤으며, Concrete, 6B, La Machine, Batofar, Wanderlust와 같은 파리를 대표하는 클럽과 공간에서 프로모터로 활동하며 다양한 아티스트들과 협업하였다. 대표적으로 Hunee, Palms Trax, Antal, Larry Heard, Jane Fitz, Lena Willikens, Gilles Peterson, Joey Negro 등을 꼽을 수 있다.

2015년 부터는 현대 전자 음악에 특화된 'Into The Deep Records’ 레코드 레이블을 운영, 이 후 2019년에 서브 레이블 'Into The Deep Treasury’를 창립하여 전 세계 곳곳 에서 음악을 발굴하고 재발매하는데 전념하였다.

2018년에는 프랑스 낭트에서 ‘Bubble Jam' 콜렉티브를 창립하여 우리가 흔히 클럽으로 생각하지 않는 의외의 장소에서 소규모 파티를 기획하는 프로젝트를 진행하였다. 그는 2021년 ’Abstrack' 의 크루 및 레코드 레이블에 합류하여 현재까지도 활발한 활동을 이어오고 있다.

Founder of the crew INTO THE DEEP in 2011 with Arthur Lastmann, they played a key role in the renewal of Paris underground electronic scene as a promoter in most clubs and music venues since 2012. Helding a residency at Djoon first, then Badaboum, he has been around most of the clubs in Paris (Concrete, 6B, La Machine, Batofar, Wanderlust) and shared the decks with the likes of Hunee, Palms Trax, Antal, Larry Heard, Jane Fitz, Lena Willikens, Gilles Peterson or Joey Negro.

Step Daw also started “Into The Deep records” in 2015, a record label specialized in contemporary electronic music. 2019 have seen the creation of Into The Deep Treasury, sub-label dedicated to reissues of music from around the globe.

During 2018, Step Daw moved to Nantes, France and founded the Bubble Jam collective to offer intimate parties in atypical places outside the club circuit. Step Daw also joined the Abstrack crew & record label in 2021.

Our Mix Series welcomes record digger Rama from New York City. Primarily becoming widely known amongst the music heads for a rare and authentic record collection, so strong that it led us to ask him to show us a little piece of it here.

Focusing heart and energy into his selection of music, Rami Zeni Spahiu (Rama) has taken his leap of faith into the NYC dance music culture. Having performed at Cielo, TBA, and various other venues, he has kept his focus and emotion into his selection and his performance. Cameos include performing alongside his friends from Nil, Rami is preparing himself to follow suit and give back to the community he loves dear. Please keep a close ear as Rama prepares to speak from his heart with his hands.

Today we’re all super hyped for for Lente Kabinet this weekend so to get us even more excited we’ve got Job Jobse making his entry to the series. He will play a closing set at the festival and as resident at De School is a master for serving up the perfect record at the perfect time. Initially a slow burner, he’s long been loved by Amsterdam locals for his richly melodic take on house, techno, Italo and disco, and himself is happy to call it trance. 

It’s certainly a spell being and emotional style that characterises his work here. With something of an old school slant, there are stiff vocal cuts and robotic grooves that slowly loosen up and turn to more hands in the air and zoned out fair before getting more sci-fi and occult later on. As ever with Jobse, it’s feel good and fun without being obvious.
