Presenting you with an hour of hard and fast breaks, Wings n Tingz head honcho Ollie B comes through with an hour of old skool badboi ‘Breakbeat Explorations’ for ETDMIX 007. After the loss of two influential figures from the world of old skool hardcore and jungle in the last week, this one has landed at the perfect time.

This hour oozes the 90s foundation breakbeat sound that I discovered shortly after getting into d&b aged 14/15 and it goes HARD. Scatty cymbals, hard snares, dark basslines chugging away and a couple ravey pianos all mixed into the melting pot. Wicked.

Maybe not one for your nan to put up with on a Tuesday evening but come Friday afternoon she too will be slapping the walls when this one comes on. Big up Ollie B and Wings n Tings. You can find him at @lostinsauceuk for the naughtiest wings in town. BOSH

MIX007 - OLLIE B 'Breakbeat Explorations'

This one was off the cuff, felt a bit rigid to start with a few slip ups but being a slippery guy i shrugged it off and soon warmed into a 1H 40min mix. 130Bpm is the 125! Had so much fun with this one!
Expect some diversity as per across the board artillary from house, garage, breaks and some peak cosmic belters!

Introducing Corners, a well established DJ and Producer from Christchurch (Otautahi) and our very first guest of the newly created 'Hutt Mix Series.'

This mix was recorded live from his set at Club121 with us in October last year. A curation of 90's inspired deep, rolling bangers with a gradual increase in tempo throughout, reminiscing on Liam taking the reins in the booth.

Collekt Sessions: PYZR | Volume 31

Trevino is Marcus Intalex. He is widely known for making underground drum and bass. In 2011 he started the Trevino alias to feed his desire to get back to his roots and rekindle his 4 to the floor spirit. He was originally a house and techno dj learning his trade in the late eighties/early nineties. He was a regular hacienda punter, a huge fan of the belleville 3 and a keen late night reveller travelling throughout the UK to clubs and raves way before drum and bass even thought of. He worked his way up in the 90’s via working in records shops, djing in clubs and radio, promoting events and producing some significant dnb 12’s. From the end of the 90’s marcus has been in high demand flying around the world peddling his love for deep drum and bass. He still does this but he now also splits his dj calendar with his other alias Trevino and his love for all things 4/4. Well most things, certainly not gabba or hard house or gospel house or scouse house or anything too happy or too cheesy or too slow or too fast or too hard or too soft….sorry i digress.. 

Marcus’s other major passion is golf. He plays regulary, or he did before he moved to Germany, now he doesn’t play at all but that’s another story. The alias Trevino is named after Lee Trevino, his favourite golfer when he was growing up. Birdie, well you can guess the obvious golf reference there. There are also track titles of some his previous release that bare the names from the golfing glossary. For him it's just a bit of self indulgence. He doesn’t take himself at all seriously and certainly ain't lead by image, fashion or changes in demand and music styles. He likes it pure. 

So this all leads us to his current project. Entitled “Front”, this double ep/ album project has obvious golf connotations. The project will come in two parts with “Back” to follow sometime within the next 12 months. Both will contain 9 tracks in the same way a golf course has 18 holes split into two halves Front & Back. 

Marcus is keen to point out that the music has nothing to do with golf whatsoever, its just an idea he thought was a good challenge and keeps the golf thing rolling. 

So here they are, 9 tracks, aimed squarely at the floor. Nothing too arsey or technical or intellectual, just 8 solid dancefloor cuts plus one short beatless thing to help make them all fit onto the vinyl..
