This year's Colorize Winter sampler brings you four exceptional acts who's dynamic styles of progressive, melodic and organic house are all guaranteed to make a splash. Opening the sampler is Seattle-based duo Modera with 'Valhalla', an emotive melodic house production based around cascading synths, delicate piano and stirring string sections. Brazilian pairing RIKO and GUGGA [BR] follow with 'Into The Light', a thrillingly powerful track thanks to meandering synths and a distinctly throbbing groove. 'Leaving Ghara' from UK-based producer YATRA is an ethereal delight with his organic style shining through as effervescent idiophones and airy vocals wax and wane, and Australia-based producer Demmo, fresh from slick Dezza collaboration 'Coastline', wraps things up with 'Paramount', a smooth production with glittering melodies and an expansive, sublime atmosphere.

I am specifically interested in situations where composers anticipate and strategize future third-party remixing of their compositions as part of a larger and complex rhetorical strategy that plays out across physical and digital spaces. We find this type of thinking—the asking of “how might the text be rewritten?” and “why, where, and for whom might this text be rewritten?”—an increasingly important set of questions in a digital age characterized, for instance, by swift, easy, and deep web searching and by copying and pasting practices. 

COLLAGE ::  Artistic compositions of materials and objects pasted and/or sewn/woven over and through surfaces, often with unifying and/or juxtaposing structures, lines, colors, themes in order to create textured, alive, amplified spaces. 

SYNTHESIS (AKA Mashup): Creating Compelling Texts comprised of borrowed, reconstituted, and original material.

GUGGA is a DJ and music producer from Sao Paulo - Brazil. Engineer and administrator, he left his career aside to devote himself fully to electronic music. Music has always been part of his life and, from an early age, he started to play musical instruments. As a heavy metal fan and drummer, he started his journey in electronic music at the end of 2020. GUGGA, with less than a year of existence, already has releases made and confirmed on labels such as: Warung Recordings, Fluxo, Colorize, Transensations and TheWav Records.
