It can’t be denied that Janthe’s day job tasks in the field of political education and on the contrary her musical commitment coincide and complement each other at the one point or the other just like electronic music or rather the scene itself has always had a political direction in its apolitically entity, even when latter has changed over the years - partly. With Torture the Artists Janthe discusses several ways of changes within the local scene of Leipzig, including the creation of venues for initially mentioned groups to follow musical ambitions among other things regarding the subject and also deviating from it in order to provide personal information how she first encountered the scene and started her musical career.

Now pushing more tech and prog inspired house music under this alias and delightfully sharing his track 'Space Cadet' with us for the latest ToneShift compilation, it's apparent even more so that Paperkraft is a true talent capable of producing top quality in any style they explore. Landing in for a much welcomed instalment to the CommaCast Series, L Daze (she/her) brings the psychedelic goodness for episode 78.
Starting her journey behind the booth in Birmingham via collective Selextorhood, now based in London, L Daze has been shelling out masterful recent sets for prestigious names such as Goddezz, Aquatic Formations, Whomp and Rhythm Section. Drawing inspiration from the 90's / early 00's trance and prog era, this talented selector combines old-school hypnotic sounds with the paced up state of modern dance floors. This hour long mix for us represents just a taste of the sheer class L Daze has when it comes to crafting absorbing story telling through tripped out grooves and mind melting sonic atmospheres. Superb stuff!

Slamming it down for episode 79 of the CommaCast Series we have Manchester-based Sassafrass co-founder, JON XVM!

Displaying for us a no-holds-barred powerhouse of old-school and modernised underground prog house sounds, Jon takes us on a mighty journey of pre-summer party fuel. Launching brand Sassafrass back in 2022, a project that would quickly lead towards playing sets at ADE, Glastonbury, as well as regular club events in Manchester and Leeds. Jon's taste is diverse yet top tier in finding those sweet gems, and this mix for us showcases that skillset he has to piece superb selections together. Get locked into this one!

Midlands-raised, SE-London-based Julia SC's taste for melodically tripped out euphoric dance music was shaped in Leeds when serving as an Editor for the (now defunct) Flux blog - the much loved House and Techno event, and label. Now making a rapidly growing presence for herself within the London trance and prog scene, Julia has graced us with a delicately crafted mix that paints a sunkissed hug in the form of vintage deeply dug electro, breakbeat, trance and prog. What's so distinctive about this mix is how much it showcases an individual sound for this absolute talent of a selector and how we are held in a space of complete escapism from the first track to the last.

Portuguese artist Delectatio is a new signing to Silk Sofa. His EP, "Sunrise", features four unique and unforgettable downtempo cuts.

"Numinous" starts with intriguing guitar riffs and enjoyable melodies on top. Soon, intricate percussion elements as well as hypnotizing vocal stems emerge, while the delightful theme melody continues to liven up the soundscape. A blissful guitar line and soothing percussion elements introduce "Be Free". Fascinating vocal stems are added later, thereby adding an extra layer of delicate and refreshing textures. "Remember" begins with a stunning atmosphere, including a number of lush synths and an intricate bassline. A mesmerizing arpeggio melody emerges later, and numerous sound effects continuously spice up the soundscape. The final song in this package is "Latibule". Beautiful melodies are quickly established, and multiple new layers are added on top, as the song progresses. The soothing breakbeat comforts the listener even further.

"The idea to do a 9 to 5 job, even going to school gave Gabriel nightmares already when he was a very young boy. His passion was always bigger than his discipline and his dreams were even bigger..

Thats why his passion for science, philosophy, electronics, sports and music often lead into complete obsession  in one of these things.  At the age of 15 he wanted to win the tour de france and cycled 60 to 160 km every day after school but ended his racing career after the first race, which ended up being too violent in his opinion. Then he wanted to take Richie Samboras place and ended up playing guitar for 2 years - 5 hours every day - but it didn't do it for him either. Then he finally discovered his passion he would stick to for longer: Electronic music. [...]

In 2004 he produced a boundary-breaking track called „Süssholz“, a very melodic and uplifting tune. After several declines, the label „Treibstoff“ wanted it. A few weeks later the track was charted number one on the Groove Charts and became a must have on the DJs playlists at the time. In the following months, basically nothing happened. Spaghetti and Ketchup and a little job at a colognes clubs cloak-room still had to make his living.

He was already about to lose hope, after 9 years of production without success, when a few months later it suddenly all shifted. Bookings from many countries came in and he shifted in no time from zero to a headliner. Totally overwhelmed by this unexpected situation, he would travel with a huge Live-Set-Up to his shows, without really understanding what was happening around him. In 2005 he surpassed all his prior releases with „Ihre persöhnliche Glücksmelodie“. Everything became bigger and the massive support from Sven Väth and Cocoon at the time kept pushing his career forward.

Driven by the new experiences in music, he was developing his own style even further. His individual sound became organic, natural sound, influenced by Latino drums, with a life-affirming basic mood and unique groove, yoked together with melancholic melodies and influenced with the classical and pop sounds from his childhood. Even today he keeps growing with his music, where we can feel influences from dubstep and deep house, as well as a comeback to more abstract and positive melodies where driving techno elements take place. For Gabriel every performance is unique, he seeks for a peaceful interaction that is allowing people to discover the soundscapes and evoke on a journey of their own desires, dreams and emotions.

Gabriel sees himself more as a deliverer of music than solely a creator. For him, performance is not a service, nor a grandstanding, but rather a gift. He feels the connection with people on an eye level, an experience with the music as an event in which he is equally a participant and a creator, just like every guest is.

Precisely out of this moments a really successful „Soulful Techno“ radio show came to life in 2013. A podcast and a platform for carefully selected, soulful and unique, authentic tracks. The podcast itself generated an enormous feedback from listeners all over the world and eventually planted a seed for Soulful Techno music label and an event platform in 2016.

In the middle of 2017, we are able to count more than 300 of productions on over 80 releases, as well as countless remixes for artists like Coyu, Stephan Bodzin, Butch, Dominik Eulberg, Roland Klinkenberg or Maceo Plex, just to name a few."

*Knall*, *fetz*, *spring*, *jubel*... Das alles war im verfluchten, letzten Jahr nur sehr spärlich bis kaum verfügbar. Wirklich schade. Aber was wirklich schade daran is, is, dass wir dadurch auch ehrlich gesagt so manche Köstlichkeiten einfach so schwupp-di-wupp verpasst haben. Da wurde die Rechnung aber nicht mit uns gemacht! So einfach werfen wir keine Perlen vor die Säue! 

Eigentlich war geplant - Perlen wie diese - live vor einer flippigen Ansammlung von lauten, bunten Menschen, aus noch lauteren Speakern raus zu schredden. Aber ja, alles kam anders diesmal. Nichts desto trotz gibt es das jetzt doch. Zwar nicht ganz so wie geplant, aber dennoch mindestens genauso fetzig.
