It’s with great pleasure we welcome the Slovenians RotorMotor to our eighth release on Club Mackan. The EP called ‘Ouroboros’ features two original tracks with remixes by the Swedish label boss himself—Marcus Christiansen and the amazing Brazilian producer Neurotiker.Both original songs contain vocals written and performed by Dario Nožic Serini - Dacho, one of the most famous Slovenian vocalists and the man behind the song Moje Milo. The two poems are about the circularity of desires and the emotional rollercoaster that occurs as a result. Even if after all the ups and downs you find yourself at the beginning, your path is the one that makes you feel joy and melancholy in your search for eternity. And that's exactly what drives these two tracks forward.Mogla Si features beautiful melancholic chords. A fat bassline accompanied by sparkling arps and beautiful vocals going between determination and desperation. The track ends with a naive yet pleasing synth lead that cries out in the back.Ouroboros is a breakbeat track that with its bassline flirts with the realm of trance. As the track progresses, beautiful arps are introduced until the track transforms into a rave-y 4x4 trance anthem.With subtle italo inspired melodies and vocoders, Neurotiker transforms Mogla Si into something completely different and we love it! A dark driving modern italo disco anthem.With his signature snares and driving bassline, Marcus gives Ouroboros a synthwave inspired makeover. Huge pads set the mood while the bass and snares drive the track forward until it eventually breaks down into the original rave-y chorus.Motor is a machine that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. Rotor turns motion into heat. They are RotorMotor ... and the wheel has just begun to turn.

Side Up Works is releasing their second EP of the year, which features the work of DJ and producer Gleb Bykox from Kharkov, Ukraine. Bykox is the creator of the FRISSON project and is recognized as one of the best DJs in his country, having gained a reputation for delivering top-notch electronic sound at the most relevant underground parties. The EP includes three original tracks, along with a remix by Niv Ast, a renowned DJ and producer from Tel Aviv, Israel.

Maleante Records releases its second parcel of the year. After kicking off 2023 with the single “1984” by Roswell Brothers & Susie C with JGR, Diskontrol (SXDNS254), and Marcus Christiansen on the remix duties, the vital Mexican label brings to life the volume V (CMVV) of its compilation series. For the ten-track VA, some of the finest Latino talents amid the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene were successfully assembled: Enjanzea2, Cosmosolar, Vleks & Cazanova, Diskontrol (again) & Martior, Corresponsal & Aileen, Playa Del Karma, TAPIIA, Globemaster (SXDNS153), H, and Priorato did their best to showcase the hecho-en-México underground sonority. 

The theme we were solicited to premiere was crafted with ingenuity and competence by young but seasoned DJ/producer Globemaster. Young in age but experienced when it comes to delivering high-level cuts, the Torreón-based artist has already appeared on many an imprint. Just to mention a few: Phisica, NEIN, Oberwave, Emerald & Doreen, Veneno, Latido, Quixotical, and Maleante, his favourite home.

For his contribution to CMVV, Globemaster put together a spicy bassline topped with sober synth riffs and an elegant crescendo, resulting in a trippy and emotive piece devoted to creating pleasant dance-floor memories for its audiences.

Leila Russack is the mastermind behind the project Miss Zagato. Hailing from Wiltshire, United Kingdom, the rising & shining artist has been on fire this year with a solid string of well-received works published on vital labels amid the Indie Dance/Dark Disco stratosphere: Distrokid, Golden Soul, Quixotical, Kyma Komplex, and La Dame Noir, to be more precise.

Either pressing keys on her analog synthesizers or lending her voice to outstanding collaborators, Miss Zagato’s eclectic sonority has an interesting trademark: no room for fluffiness – the lady likes her stuff raw and complex.

Her forthcoming incursion, soon on Kyma Komplex, is properly named after two of her favourite mundane pleasures: “Whiskey & Cigarettes”, a four-track EP divided into two, yes, raw and complex originals plus two insightful remixes made with love by Ledi Cannit and Basura & Mierda. Premiered here, the former’s version.

Ledi Cannit is a promising Turkish producer who had her first piece released on Kyma’s “Varias Artistas” compilation in January this year. For her take on “Cigarettes”, she started speeding things up (from 118 to 123 BPM) and ripping some of the EMB aura of the original. The result is a trippier and more upbeat interpretation but still dark as hell.
