Back in the post acid house mists of time, a new kind of dance music began to emerge called 'deep house'. We know, hard to believe! 

There weren't many places to hear it; Plastic People and Space in London, DIY and The Bomb in Nottingham, the Sub Club in Glasgow, and in Manchester, Robodisco.

It started as a one off Thursday at The Paradise Factory with Derrick Carter in his first Northern gig, went weekely on a Wednesday round most of the city's venues before settling in to its glory years at Planet K.  

Of course, it wasn't just 'deep house' but house of every stripe, disco, techno and anything that moved the floor. The DJ list is pretty eye watering to look at  now; Josh Wink, DJ Harvey, Farley & Heller, Kerri Chandler, Romanthony and the list goes on.

But of course, like all the best clubs, the residents were the ones who really rocked it. Miles Hollway, Elliot Eastwick, Ben Davis and a little know Parisian called Erik Rug who could blend Detroit, disco and the deep stuff in to a heady brew of mayhem.

So crank the air raid siren, light a fag, crack a Red Stripe and get dancing in your oversized cargo pants x

Com o Cupcake Project, Araujo levou sua música para selos como Nurvous Records. Royal Soul Records, Moonsol Music, South B e Tech Grooves Records. Chegou a ter seus lançamentos figurando entre os top 100 de Indie Dance / Nu Disco do Beatport. Suas tracks tiveram support de nomes como Flight Facilities, Aeroplane e Kolombo.

Araujo já morou na Inglaterra, Buenos Aires, Flórida e Califórnia. Sua música expressa justamente toda essa sua vivência e experiência passando por lugares diferentes. Em sua carreira, já realizou turnês pela Europa. Tocou na Alemanha, França, Polônia e Inglaterra. Também já se apresentou no Uruguai e Argentina. Por todos os países por onde morou, tocou e participou ativamente do cenário eletrônico local.

Já teve a oportunidade de mostrar o seu trabalho em clubes como Avalon e Playhouse (Hollywood), Rex Club (Paris), D-Edge (São Paulo), Warung Beach Club (Itajaí), Green Valley (Balneário Camboriú), Bahrein Club (Buenos Aires), The Fridge (Londres) e Club Vibe (Curitiba). Passou por festivais como Antiworld 2002, 2003, 2004 e 2005 (Londres), Tribaltech 2007 e 2012 (Curitiba) e Lightning in a Bottle 2012 (Califórnia).

BSV: Hi DJ Tchok! Are you our Santa who delivers music goodies?
DJ TCHOK: Oh oh oh, thank you! But I’m not the Santa, just forcing myself to make music for the soul :) If I have good feedback, I’m delighted. It's my prerogative.

BSV: Your mixtape contains very catchy bass lines. Do you listen to Jamiroquai frequently?
DJ TCHOK: Thank you for the reference, I love Jamiroquai. When I produce music the main ingredient after the beat is the bass line. I need the right bass to give the right mood. Thus, I clearly love tracks with catchy bass lines (unmasked, you saw my game). It's obvious to find this kind of tracks in my mixtape.

BSV: What can you tell us about your connection with Gospel music?
DJ TCHOK: Gospel music is life! It's the ultimate Music to feed our souls. I was rocked very young by this music and I definitely love it. I feel for this type of vibes and I’m happy (that's all). There is no rational explanation.

BSV: ‘Got My Attention’ track appeared in Beatport ‘WEEKEND PICKS 53’. Also it is 7th in ‘Best New Deep House: December’ chart. You played it in this tape alongside with ’No Pressure’. How long does it take to create these bangers?
DJ TCHOK: The anecdote, 'Got my attention' was produced 3 years ago and I couldn't find any serious label to release it until @delve-deeper-recordings. Otherwise, 'No Pressure' was made in one weekend. You can find my own vocal in this track :) 
To resume, there are no rules, it all depends on your creativity, a few hours or a few days.

BSV: Traxsource or Beatport type of person?
DJ TCHOK: Oh, I don't care. I prefer the best portal that allows the best promotion of my music :)

BSV: Is it hard to make music for our souls?
DJ TCHOK: No, if I make it with my soul. One day, I will find someone who appreciate it. In the true life, it's not easy to find your audience. Work is the best way!  
 
BSV: Do you have a plan on how to avoid worldwide negativity? Does music help you in that?
DJ TCHOK: A plan ... Before all, love your family and your friends. For me, producing music is a beautiful way to stay strong and be happy.

BSV SESSION 012 🇫🇷 + INTERVIEW & FREE DOWNLOAD

if you're gonna start the new year with a bang then what better way to do it than with an incredible selection of balearic tinged exotica from a long standing (and personal) friend of us, Mr Dan Wainwright and his 'Hope & Deliverance' E.P.

Lead off track 'I Love You' is all kinds of hazy wooziness & spaced out synths & pads with a slack as heck broken beat that all mixes & swirls in the right places along this cosmic journey.

Nothing Ever Stays The Same keeps on the cosmic path and goes with a dubbed out bass thump for added measure with some full on hypnotic vocal action that sews the package up and feels a bit like Moby when he was really good and not such a bell end.

Feel ups the tempo slightly but keeps things trip and demanding some sun beams at overseas festivals. This is some serious daytime dancing style tackle that will uplift & bliss in equal measures.

Closing track 'I Hope That Joy Will Come To You' is a definite message for everyone to mantra after the rubbish's of 2020. Delay drenched synth chords & kaleidoscope pads wrap around a hooky ukulele (as played live by Dan!) and a psych'd out vocal from the man himself. No beats on this at all, they're not needed. This is pure class in a glass!
