A decade after it first came out, Stephan Bodzin and Marc Romboy’s Luna album will be reimagined this November with a four-track remix package. Soon-to-land on Systematic, the likes of Ben Böhmer, ANNA & Wehbba, Aera and Echonomist all feature this time around.

“I could not be happier with this double 12”, which is coming out ten years after the release of our Luna album. Stephan and I managed to win over four fantastic artists in the form of Ben Böhmer, ANNA & Wehbba, Aera and Echonomist, each of whom we cherish a lot.” - Marc Romboy.

Ben Böhmer leads the way on Callisto, providing us with a synth-fuelled remix of the original that showcases his signature dancefloor-ready style. ANNA & Wehbba soon darken proceedings with their interpretation of Ferdinand, a brooding techno number stacked with hard-edged kick-hat combos throughout, before Aera serves up seven minutes of glitchy melodic sounds on his remix of Triton. Echonomist then rounds things off, re-inventing Phobos with poignant pads and gently-building percussion.

German artist Ben Böhmer has become a mainstay of contemporary electronic music, thanks to a consistent output on Anjunadeep, Anjunabeats and Armada Music to name a few. ANNA is one of techno’s leading talents, having released on Drumcode, Hotflush and a host of other established imprints, whilst Brazilian Wehbba is no stranger to both labels also. Berlin-based Aera has found a welcome home on Innervisions in recent times, as has Greek talent Echonomist, with both artists receiving industry acclaim for Prana and Night Versions respectively.

Those of you that have been following my work over the past years know that I am big fan of the art of editing, both, digging for and playing the edits of others and manufacturing them myself. Besides the many ones that have been released officially I made countless ones in the past years just to enhance my sets. Doing edits is simply a lot of fun, its a similar approach to remixing but yet different. There are no limits, from just editing tracks (in the literal sense) to make them longer (or shorter), DJ friendlier, or mash an instrumental of one track together with an acapella from another one to building up a complete new production and arrangement around an acapella or an instrumental, there are no limits to re-interpret the respected work of others. Today I decided to start sharing these works with you. I start today out with an edit that uses the elements of Kraftwerk’s “It’s More Fun To Compute“ and the vocals of Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force’s “Planet Rock” and put them over a rocking Electro beat. A firm Drumcode favourite, Mark Reeve is back with his latest techno opus.

Weaving his vitalising, biting techno through the seminal imprint since 2012, Reeve has since become a permanent fixture within Adam Beyer’s camp. He saw demand for his knockout ‘Run Back’ EP being matched and surpassed by his ‘Far Away’ EP, which bagged the number one spot on Beatport’s techno chart. Staunch DC fans will also be familiar with Reeve’s output on the label’s A-Sides compilation series, and clubbers hot on the tails of Drumcode events will have caught him centre stage across a string of showcases, including the inaugural Drumcode Festival.

Reeve’s music invariably endorses an arresting sonic aesthetic, with intense melodies often driving in those eye-closing moments. The title track ‘Distance’ is an atmospheric opening gambit set to sonically massage the senses with uplifting pads and a radiant melody. ‘Serum’, a track recently road-tested by Beyer at a special event in collaboration with Cercle, soars and captivates as it progresses with a low-end rumble and intricate keys. ‘Fix Me’ is a vigorous techno workout that’s intent on energising a clubroom rammed with sweat-soaked dancers. Closing off the EP, ‘Filmwave’ rides a killer groove into a pit of punchy, powerful kicks.
