My Friend Dario is back on Hell Yeah this August with more of his low tempo, high-temperature dance floor bombs.

Dario has been carefully nurtured by label head Marco over the course of a few fresh EPs in the last year. Just before this EP lands he will release on Nu Northern Soul, and earlier in the year he served up a stunning live set at the foot of iconic volcano Etna, so is very much part of the current wave of Balearic tastemakers.

Opener 'Desertico' has already been caned by ALFOS chief Sean Johnston who recognises the power of its heavyweight chug. Over the course of nearly ten minutes and two epic breakdowns, the tune builds on supple techno pulses, with tense synth phrases keeping you in suspense before the drop brings a sense of tropical rain and thunder.

'Sunset Outro' was the last track from his live set and gets your heady amongst the clouds. The churning drums, wooden hits and lush chords are dreamy yet heavy and have an effortlessly hypnotic effect that will lock in any dance floor.

Futureboogie Recordings is calling time after ten years with a 20-track compilation that sums up the sound of the lovingly curated Bristol label. From throbbing arps and noirish guitar twangs to errant analogue blips and ceaseless, rolling grooves, it’s a different sound to what you might have heard five years back on the Summer Riot IV compilation, and certainly a long way from the early days. Consider Futureboogie 10² an ode to evolution as much as a toast to all the great tracks and the family of artists that have passed through the wide-reaching Futureboogie sphere since before the label was even a sparkle in the disco ball.
 
Originally founded by Dave Harvey and Steve Nickolls, the roots of Futureboogie lie in an intimate Bristol party called Seen. Started in 2002, this open-hearted session invited the likes of Metro Area, Attica Blues, Carl Craig, Maurice Fulton, Moodymann and Gilles Peterson – based on that heavyweight list, you can see the foundations were laid for what was to come. Futureboogie evolved off the back of these parties as a many-limbed operation – an artist management and booking agency as much as a club night, with Harvey and Nickolls consolidating the sound as DJs around Bristol and beyond. The progression to a record label was a logical one.
 
When Futureboogie Recordings launched in 2011 with Julio Bashmore and Javeon McCarthy’s ‘Father Father’, it represented an extended circle of friends close to the label from Bristol’s deep pool of talent and beyond – amongst them Eats Everything, Waifs & Strays, PBR Streetgang, Behling & Simpson and Crazy P. The reach of the label grew in tandem with its reputation, not to mention the endeavours of the team in other areas of the music game. The Boogiefuturo label became a vital entity on its own terms, carrying a lauded DJ Nature remix of Typesun which encapsulates two distinct generations of Bristolian house music at its best. DJ Nature, who cut his teeth as DJ Milo in the Wild Bunch days, has gone on to become a regular feature on Futureboogie, helping define its soulful, adventurous spirit.

Arno E. Mathieu is back for the 3rd release on his journey of CONTEMPLATION on Compost Records, and it’s all about a Cyclades Island musical spirit.
Once again, as a tribute to the Mediterranean culture and landscape, this new piece of music is a cinematic mix of percussive rhythms, catchy bass line and aerial melodies, taking the form of a walk through the island’s paths and seaside.
Starting with deep & abstract voices and ghostly guitars, INSULAE shortly turns to a sunny balearic expression with percussions and fresh synth, over-flied with dreamy guitars. The bass line then comes to support the bongo pattern, just before an anthemic melody introducing a synthetic voice them that shows us the road until a cliff over the Aegean sea.
As a guest remixer in this Cyclades wandering, the renowned and talented french producer I:Cube stays true to the original vibe, but adding a twist of deepness and modernity with dub effects and drum machine, staying focus on the main elements and driving the track untill an opened and unlighted mood, making the original percussions rolling till the end of the progression.

Hailing from Madrid and a child of the mid 70's; Rober Alonso sparked his interested in music at a very young age - Playing various clubs and events, especially in Madrid and Edinburgh. 

Growing up immersed in the electronic music of the 80s and 90s, it is clear to understand where his influences derive from.  In recent years he has begun to release productions with slow beats and a dark cut from which his new project arises as "Calma Tensa".

Exclusive: Sexy Lazer - Fluting In Space (Axel Boman Remix)

Danish Dynamite they call call their national football team. Dynamite we call Copenhagen-based artist Sexy Lazer's latest EP on Riotvan Mr. Lava Lava, which probably namely orientates itself towards Shaggy's Reggae ear worm Mr. Bombastic from 95. However, rumors have it that Reggae and Dub-love Axel Boman took on remix duties for Sexy Lazer's track Fluting In Space for exactly those "shagging" reasons. The result is a smoking, pardon fluting downtempo track that prepares one for cosmic experiences within its five minutes living up the expectations the track title suggests. Additionally, Boman slows down the vocals, if not to say he reworks them in good ol' DJ Screw-manner, making them a tempo-wise as well as a musically fit for his approach and ultimately delivers a cut that deserves the remix attribute as it widens the listener's horizon by another (musical) facet. 

Sexy Lazer's EP Mr. Lava Lava is released on April 29th, 2022.
