We almost missed this one. So to ensure ‘In Waves’ made waves in the pages of Mixmag, we went back to it – and boy will you be glad you did, too. Lord Of The Isles, aka producer and graphic designer Neil McDonald, has been writing and producing for almost a decade, the enigmatic releases finding homes on key electronic imprints like Permanent Vacation, Phonica and Mule Music. His debut album, released via LA label ESP Institute, is fresh and spectacular. McDonald says an early fascination with Scottish history inspired his moniker, as well as being dragged around the Highlands by his parents as a young child. Those trips clearly made an impact on him, because ‘In Waves’ is laced with beautiful chord progressions and colours as bright as tartan. He seems to be as in touch with nature as he is with percussion and quirky melodies, as demonstrated by the sound of waves washing over pianos on the title track. Its 15 tracks are the epitome of otherworldly electronic sophistication and yes, for the most part they’re as Balearic as a classic DJ Harvey disco re-edit. Certain tracks stick out: the glitchy Balearic bounce of ‘Liobasta’ is an early highlight, as is the smooth cinematic touch of ‘Obar Lìobhaite’. The Âme/Dixon-ish bleep masterclass ‘Weh-In’ doesn’t put a foot wrong over eight scorched minutes, either, while the subtly breathtaking ‘Yanomami’ isn’t far behind. We are super happy to host a marvelous sound piece, put together by the one and only @Thomassjackson of @calypsorecs which he runs together with @inigovontier - if you're in Vienna and came round to the @bellydanceservices label night on september 21st, you probably just could not stop dancing. This mix originally aired on the same night on FM4 LA BOOM DELUXE and now we are proud to exclusively put it out on our little we tape series.

From 1998 Thomass started his close relationship with electronic music thanks to massive raves in Buenos Aires.  He soon began to play bass for dance act Capri (Gigolo Records) which led him to world touring and to other high end musical ventures. I the late 2000´s he starts releasing his matchless sound through labels as Gomma Records, Correspondant, Multi Culti and La Dame Noir.

2017 sees him colaborate with Red Axes in their last album and releasing an EP on his own label: Calypso Records. China, Lithuania, Serbia, Spain, Mexico, Germany, Bolivia and USA are some of the countrys where he has played 
and has shared booths with: Manfredas, Manpower, Jennifer Cardini, Tiger and Woods, InFlagranti,Naomi Ruiz, Blond:ish, Thomas Von Party, Horse Meat Disco and Mike Simonetti.

At the moment Thomass Jackson lives in Mexico City where he's a resident at the club M.N.Roy. Enjoy the mix and keep on dancing!

Space music of an outstanding and extraordinary kind: just as you would expect when two mannequins leave their boutique in Karlsruhe/Germany in their mind’s eye to go and see places where they haven’t been before.
“Im Weltenraum”, how they call their new album, is Fred und Luna’s next step in their ever-changing series of “Elektrokraut/Krautelektro” music. A charming and fascinating voyage through an endless universe of phantasmagorial soundscapes, repetitive rhythms, catchy melodies and even a side trip to Acid House Land.
After their “Glück auf” on Optimo Music, where they started with a journey through motorik Krautland, followed by a trip to a both atmospheric and boppy soundgarden on their album “Im Klanggarten” (Bigamo), an intoxicating journey into deep blue areas on “Im Tiefenrausch” (Compost Records) and tribal dancefloor spots on “Im Tanzrausch” (Compost), “Fred und Luna” are now on the traces of spaces, unknown worlds and unknown time zones, accompanied by Patrick Pulsinger, both a mixmaster and a master of mastering.

Who are Fred und Luna?
"Fred und Luna" are two mannequins living in a fashion boutique in Karlsruhe, Germany. They serve as muse for musician, lector, poet and photo/video maker Rainer Buchmüller.
Inspired by his doll friends and his love for German electronic music of the past decades, Rainer Buchmüller under the alias “Fred und Luna” produces his self-created genres Elektrokraut and Krautelektro: both a modern combination of repetitive rhythms, beautiful melodies, electronic soundscapes and elements from the Krautrock era.
Under the name of “Ariston Baton” Rainer Buchmüller also writes and performs sound poems and concrete poetry. On live events and especially on exhibitions Ariston Baton is joining “Fred und Luna” and Rainer Buchmüller’s third identity “Vizudaru Nono”, who is contributing video and photo projections. Together they form the so called “Equipe Nadaphysique”. The next exhibition featuring all three named personalities will take place end of October 2018 at Rockomotives Festival, Vendôme/France.
