JUNO REVIEW: Fresh from delivering a suitably intoxicating chunk of feverish tribal techno on their own Belly Dance Services stable, Hanzo & Yaman bring their trademark brand of percussive dance music to Tom Tom Disco. Title track "Tropicalas" is notably different to its predecessor, with the pair layering up wonky chants and South American style percussion over a looped synth bassline. It's hugely endearing and celebratory all told, and comes backed with two bonus cuts: the hypnotic ethno-techno throb of "Titaporn" and the quirky nu-disco/percussive house bounce of "Hola Hola". Of the trio of accompamying remixes, we're particularly enjoying the loose, acid-flecked breakbeat shuffle of Lily Haz's rework of "Titaporn" and Tony Disco's exotic, Middle Eastern disco revision of "Tropicala".

After the three highly acclaimed albums “Oracle” (2017), “Dance Of The Demons” (2018) and “Worshippers” (2020), it’s about time to present a collection of remixes of Web Web’s musical output. For this 12” we could allure some top notch producers. Like Web Web’s œvre itself, the variety of remixes on this 12” as well is stunningly diversified. 
We’ve got an uplifting disco house groover by living legend Mousse T., which already got massive support by Louie Vega on his Worldwide radio show. A tribal afro house re-work by NY resident Hector Romero & Ayala from Italy; some avant-garde broken beats plus a mellow slow motion version of “Land Of The Arum Flowers” by Italian freestyle, trap, jazzy beats rising star Khalab; an epic downbeat monster by Vienna beat smith URBS, and last but not least a smooth dubby remix by Munich’s beat wunderkind L One. A secret weapon 12” representing a beautiful wide musical spectrum.

Web Web are Roberto Di Gioia (piano, synth, percussion), Tony Lakatos (tenor and soprano saxophones, flute), Christian von Kaphengst (upright bass) and Peter Gall (drums).

His Presidio E.P. picks up where the previous one, The Inner Mission left off; house music flavours of discerning styles. 

Love Ain't Perfect kicks off the party and its a cosmic pounder with a relentless & heavy bass line, warped vocal and synth stabs that sound like a lost John Carpenter movie soundtrack. 

Dramatic Entrance does what it says on the tin. Tribal sounds wrapped around electronic steel drum melodies and raspy synth stabs make this a real off-piste slice of exotica.

Before The Rain is hypnotising and hard to categorise other than 'bloody brilliant'. Strings, key stabs, pads and bags of emotion along with a lush vocal from Wonder make this is some serious stylish work.
