Description: "The Improvised Beat Sessions" is an album of metric improvisations by the Concordia Laptop Orchestra, recorded across various sessions. Utilizing a custom Wi-Fi metronome created by Eldad Tsabary in Pure Data, the ensemble, comprising 15 to 25 members, delves into a synchronized exploration of beats and rhythms.

A network music performance uniting the Cybernetic Orchestra (performing in Hamilton) with the Concordia Laptop Orchestra (CLOrk, performing in Montréal) for the Musicacoustica Festival 2013 (in Beijing).  Also: possibly the first public performance using the telematic bridges in the EspGrid software.  Thanks to the long list of people who contributed to this event and collaboration!

"Eshel Yehuda" for Trombone and Electronics (2000). A scene from Z. Weinper's Yiddish novel, "On the Sands of Yehuda." A trombone meditation performed live by Haim Avitsur against a background of "natural" sounds as described in the novel, in this electronic realisation by Eldad Tsabary.

FLOW - PACE - TEMPERATURE : DREAM HEART. As being in IONE´s Annual Dream Festival in late february 2018 together with JeShaBö, that is Jennifer Wilsey, Sharon Stewart, Björn Eriksson, this piece was coming into existence through a dreamy collaborative flow of interactions of "Dream Heart Sounds". This piece is made of these. One sound rather mysteriously was found in a harddrive, called Sweep.wav, made exaclty one year ago in february 2017, Jennifer Wilsey came up with extraxts from a recording from 2010 with the SSU Improv Ensemble of Pauline Oliveros´ piece Heart Chant. Sharon Stewart pointed me to a recording of "WLD 2013 Heart Drawing", made in 2013 on the World Listening Day together with Stephanie Loveless. Additional toypiano, ballaphone, miniature bell and audiomulch randomization electronic tones added in the flow. This piece is dreaming the heart sounds through it´s listeners.

Dream Heart - Flow

Field recordings were taken in Toronto and Montreal, and processed and arranged using a program I developed. Around the time that the piece was being finalized, I was reading about the annual unearthing of unexploded ordnance and other weaponry by farmers along the former Western Front in Europe. This is known as the "Iron Harvest", and the juxtaposition of Spring's renewal and the reminder of the horrors of the first World War complements the way my composition plays out in my mind.

This composition was originally presented in 5 channels, and has been mixed down to two channels for the web.

Iron Harvest

Shift is the second album from the Cybernetic Orchestra at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada, produced during "Scalable, Collective Traditions of Electronic Sound Performance" - a research project supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada's Image, Text and Sound Technology grant program and by the McMaster University Arts Research Board.  Alongside network synchronized beats and live coding in ChucK, the album features a guest performance by Montréal tabla player Shawn Mativetsky.
