I really like this contrast between the obstinate of the piano and the melody of the strings !! Nice idea !!

The piano bass line in the first part is evil ;) it gives a urge feel to the rest of the instruments which are more peaceful and creates a great tension. Beautiful writing and arrangement. The second part is more focused on feelings, more "romantic", and finaly peaceful. Magnifique!

This period of our life is full of shadows and lights (like those of this beautiful day) and certainly of hope. The link between my mind and music is very strong and for this reason I decided to make this playlist with some compositions of my friends, artists and composers of Soundcloud. It was very nice to listen to their thoughts through their musical sensitivity.

As I age I've found myself loving nature more and love being in the outdoors. This track has been inspired by my love of those simple, free things. It a calming, melodic track featuring the warmth and resonance of the cor anglais (English horn), supported by a gentle string and woodwind orchestration

Pure Love

This piece - a piano quintet in five movements - is named after a small town in northern Italy, nestled in to the alps. The first movement is a very short introduction. I hope you enjoy it.

A little backstory on this music - before covid, I'd made plans to travel the world in early 2020 to celebrate having finished graduate school. I was fortunate enough to be able to do some traveling in January and February before covid stopped everything. I came back to the US early, cancelling the rest of my plans.

This music was written in Italy - I started writing this quintet before covid's first cases were reported there. And I watched, from the standpoint of a tourist, as Italy's cases got higher and higher, and as other nations began to have outbreaks as well. I finished writing this piece of music just before leaving - which was just before the lockdowns started. 

I tend not to think of my own music as being "about" anything. But, listening to this music now, it does make me think of many things - of how great it felt to travel in such a beautiful place, of the freedom of traveling in general (and the hope of returning to it someday, in a world where it's accessible to more people), of how humans can show strength in the face of adversity particularly when they help one another, and of the difficulties as well as the introspection, and the hope, that this year has brought to the world. 

I hope you enjoy it. Soon I will upload its companion piece - another chamber piece written after I got back to the US, but intended to go alongside this one as a sort of sibling.

Courmayeur - Movement 1

He could not bring himself from bed as the alarm pounded against the wall of his skull. The sun snuck into the room through a couple bent blinds and although it bothered him it wasn't enough to raise him. The song began to play and he looked at the light streaks that cut through the dust in his room - suspended by apathy. 

He rolled over to turn the alarm off, and while there, noticed the small box of mementos he must have rifled through last night while he was drunk. He hesitated to put himself through this again, but in the spirit of self-destruction, opened the box, and looked through all the pictures once more - reliving every moment.

It's been almost three months since "Abracadabra!" was released. I've been busy with some other projects since then, mainly recording and composing for clients. However, given how well "Abracadabra!" was received... we started working on the "sequel" :) 

Meanwhile, here is the title track that gave the name to the album.
