David Clark Little: Specifications - 3 Ripresa Risoluto

The sounds in this composition will never again be heard in the wild. All of the species audible in this piece—ten birds and two frogs—are now extinct. You are able to hear these sounds because the creatures that made them went extinct during the era of recorded sound; this is a unique moment in the history of human-driven extinction.

This sound installation was presented at the IMRC Center at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine, United States on May 3, 2018; this recorded excerpt of the same installation in the same space was made the following week on May 9.

This is a slightly new direction for me, I am using python to generate fractals in MIDI and importing them into Ableton to add the sounds. This is using Ableton's Operator synth and basic sounds. This is for the Disquiet open mic. Feedback is welcome, I am especially interested in pointers on how to improve my synth sounds.

Upload: When participating in this project, post one finished track with the project tag, and be sure to include a description of your process in planning, composing, and recording it. This is the second phase of a three-part collaborative project for the Disquiet Junto. From a list of almost 70 short tracks, I chose this piano piece by @ChrisLedwidge and came up with an accompanying guitar part. Next week a third person might choose to add a part to complete the trio. Even if that doesn't happen, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.
