Summer, if we can even call it that, was totally unexpected, frustrating, and in some cases devastating for many people across NZ. I personally know that the music scene took a big hit; parties postponed, cancelled, or cut short... DJs, promoters & event staff losing income, and punters missing out on much anticipated & needed experiences. 

I recorded this mix to release some energy, share some gems, and get in the groove that I didn't get to over the last couple of months. 

The set wasn't planned out, but still (I hope!) captures the sound and vibe I wanted it to: high energy, rolling, grooving, percussive, deep, minimal and yet big at the same time...

Cooper Khan - Good Party Attitude

Here's my set from 'This Must Be It' - recorded live 02:30-04:00am, 30/04/23.

TMBI is the brainchild of Finn Jackson & Jana Haze - it's a beautiful little boutique festival nestled away on the west coast of Raglan and this was the debut! 

The whole gig - from the production, decor, layout and general feel, to the DJs, the atmosphere, and the attention to detail throughout - was spot on. It sold out (unsurprisingly, and I'm sure it will continue to do so as it continues. 

Hats off to Finn & Jana, and to everyone else who worked hard behind the scenes to pull this absolute gem of a party together. 

I had a great time playing this set and had a fantastic dance floor from start to finish. Thanks also to my friends and loved ones who danced with me!

In Japanese there is a word 幸 (sachi) which translates as good fortune, and happy accidents.

One Friday (early) morning after a night of celebrations with my muse & partner, I decided to press record and have a mix in my lounge. Many DJs will understand what it is to get 'lost in the mix'... everything else disappears; nothing exists apart from that moment you're in and the music that's playing. This was one of those moments for me - there was no real thought as far as what tunes I would play, certainly no planning, and I just got completely sucked into the music. This was the result... 

A real eclectic bunch of tunes in here, from big bass lines with broken beats, to groovy minimal rollers, and everything in between... 

Recorded using 3x XDJ1000s, X:ONE 92 mixer & a Strymon Volante pedal.

Kicking off the Naked Tea Party inside the Dampfer at Sisyphos felt like stepping into a cozy daydream where everyone forgot their clothes but brought their best vibes. 🥹💛
There’s something about this party that stirs the most creative brew. Maybe it’s the freedom, maybe it’s the tea (seriously, good tea), or maybe it’s the booties grooving in perfect harmony. 🍑 Whatever it is, it’s a space where energy doesn’t just flow - it flies.
Translating all those warm and soft bodies into sound pulls me right into storyteller mode. 🤩
Big love to @sisyphos-berlin and @thenakedteaparty (especially Danielle) for welcoming me back with open arms and hearts.
Can’t wait to dive back into the teacup with you all.

For this special ten year anniversary I’ve gone deep and rolling with some special tracks perfect for those hazy afternoons nestled in the Kanuka stage surrounded by trees, dunes and lakes scattered around the magical AUM festival site with our beautiful AUM family.

The underground is still very alive and kicking in Leipzig, no phones, little cozy spaces transformed into little sweatboxes where people  are connecting though dance. I was in a Naroma sandwich for this invitation, she opened and closed the floor, I was in the middle. Here's a little nibble of my part of the sandwich. Hope you find it mjumy!

Silk Sessions 05 - Kon Faber

This was my first time playing at a beautiful little boutique festival called 'Luscious' in the south island of New Zealand. 

Recorded live 12:00am-01.30am on the opening night.

I played mostly what I was feeling in the moment, and there's even one of my own productions in there which was a big thing for me as it's only the second time I've included one in a set. 

I play on 3 CDJs, so there are lots of tunes crammed in, there are different grooves, styles & vibes throughout but all of the tracks share a certain something that I like, and i guess you could call that my 'sound'.

Thanks to Sandy & Riki for putting on the party and inviting me down, and thanks to my friends, my beautiful partner Goldy & everyone else who danced.
