A much renowned DJ and production figure in trance and progressive circles, Sasha was born in 1969 in North Wales UK. Became famous in the late 80's and early 90's for residencies at clubs like Shelly's, the Hacienda, and most notably Renaissance. At Renaissance, formed a now-famous DJ partnership with John Digweed which continues to the present day.

Hi folks, here's my SCS 2023 mix from Manchester. The evening was one of the best nights/crowds i've played at in a long while. The build up to this event was immense and the night was beyond any of our expectations. A huge thank you to all you lovely people who came and partied hard until 4 a.m too, i wasn't expecting the floor to still be as busy and full of the nicest, clued up old skool ravers. Props to the Mods who worked so hard putting this together and also for maintaining this awesome Facebook group. Every DJ played a belter, Steve Vertigo was a complete gent and played a blinder as predicted. So it was left for me to finish off this seminal occasion with a set packed full of my edits which i'd created especially for this evening. I hope you enjoy this mix and it gives you the same enjoyment i had playing it to such a beautiful gathering of like minded souls. Thank you. Going out to everyone involved in the SCS site. To celebrate our 30th episode, we are very honoured to get a recommendation from a Dj that’s played a huge part in the house music scene for over 20 years and someone who’s had a massive influence on myself, house heads around the world, and the CD’s that we feature on this site

After a famous trip to ibiza in the late 80’s… Danny set up his legendary Shoom night in London, which kicked off the rave and acid house scene in the UK. He’s helped cement house music culture in Ibiza, being a key figure in it’s growth on the island. But many know Danny through his radio shows… where he started out at Kiss FM and went onto lead radio one's weekend roster alongside Pete Tong. His Love Groove Dance Party show was the soundtrack to many people's saturday nights and I speak on behalf of thousands, to say it was an pleasure and an education to tune in each and every weekend.

He's had countless mix cd's over the years, some of which we've already featured on the site. But today, he's recommended the Decade of Dance CD, mixed by himself and released on Circa records in 1999. As it represents his favourite tracks throughout the 90's and is full of the gorgeous vocals and feel good house music Danny is know for.

So thanks again for everything Mr. Rampling. We really can't thank you enough for giving us all the amazing music and memories over the years.

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.
