woke this morning just a quarter past seven,
on the couch of a good friend, with a headache
so I headed back to 7/11
dropped the coffee I just poured
and left it there
to soak on the floor
seep through the tile
the minimum wage worker
has been left with my mess to clean up

and on the eve of the global recession
when we are “well on our way to forgetting”
I’ll still be stocking the fire of obsession
the smokes been sticking to my hair
and no matter what I do
I can’t get it out
not shampoo nor chlorine
there is no amount
to drown out the smell
