Steve Bailey – aka Makaton – has been releasing influential, experimental and cutting-edge techno music since 1998 with all but a few of his releases coming through his own Rodz-Konez operation, a label that’s released music by Regis, Inigo Kennedy, The 65D Mavericks, etc. Makaton also releases music on James Ruskin’s Blueprint, as well as Token and RSB.
Underground and uncompromising to the core, Makaton’s music is consistently supported and charted by Surgeon, Dave Clarke and James Ruskin, among other techno luminaries.
His’s exhilarating liveset has seen him bolster the techno scene across the UK, Europe and in the US.

'Granular' is Tony Tyson's third release on his imprint Cortex Recordings. Whereas predecessor 'Toro' featured a wide range of influences, 'Granular' has a more singular focus on darker moods and atmospheres. 
The title track is squarely aimed at the dance floor with its hypnotic, evolving bass riff which meshes tightly with rhythmic noise and simple but effective drums.
'Cold Light' starts with a frantic pace and a biting acid bassline. Majestic synthesizer strings shine their cold light on the breakdown and combined with the other parts, they make for a dramatic final act.
Closing track 'Wasteland' is a more experimental, lower paced cut with a cinematic atmosphere. An idiosyncratic kick drum rhythm and haunting drones provide the backdrop on which classic drum machine sounds take the lead.

Cortex Recordings is an independent Techno label headed by Dutch producer/DJ Tony Tyson. 
The label is an outlet for Tyson's own productions as well as material from like-minded artists; the first of which is the very talented DJ/producer Delphunk from Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
The Cortex Recordings sound is all about dark, minimalistic, synth driven Techno with acidic, melodic and dub influences. Among the releases there will also be more experimental productions, although always firmly rooted in the Techno ethos.
The name Cortex Recordings was inspired by notion the of being able to express musical ideas directly from their point of origin; from human imagination. The label is dedicated to making the best of these ideas available to the public.
