In Vol 1. Mark du Mosch adds tension, FRAK takes you on that boozy journey to the Kebab Shop, Julian G reflects on the beauty of a frozen wonderland and Lie of the Land takes you on a introspective acid journey. Trip!!

Dutch professor of analogue synthesis, Mark Du Mosch, uses his technology to create a feeling of Suspense in his Techno/ House piece. Picture the scene; It's Friday night, you've been waiting for the party hotline to reveal the location for the Freeparty this will make or break the weekend! Is it going to happen??? This is the soundtrack to the start of the afterhours and it’s a serious Builder.

Next up is the drunken stumble to the Kebab Shop. FRAK serve up some filthy drums and synths to go with your grease and chilli sauce. After a few bites on the Jammin' kebap the brain alarms start going. A little while longer mind is starting to twist and the track starts it uncontrollable spinning. FRAK have been putting distortion pedal to drum machine since the late 80’s, their production style really shows how the grit in the edit adds to the depth.

On the flip is a man that has been behind the scene since almost the start. Julian G started out distributing vinyl for various House labels in the mid 1990’s and the House sickness is still with him. He debuts with this his first track pressed to his favourite media. Glassy reverberating synths and bells capture the beauty of crystallising water droplets. A kick drum joins, giving life and energy through the earthy house beat, but it’s not until the bass pads drop that the real beauty is revealed. An amazing first track from this veteran of the scene.

Finally Lie of the Land’s second outing on wax takes us on the introspective acid trip of self-discovery. Alternating kick drums and sleigh bells have a strangely calming feel, a deep chugging Pads take us deeper into a hypnotic state. Expansive Synth take us into the introspective world of self-thought. Enlightenment is not far away, but not before a heavy dosing of acid spins! Enjoy the ride, it is a beautiful one.

Obscurant (Inna Loft Mix By Call Super)

Barra Funda is something of a homecoming for Brazilian producer Spaniol. The EP takes inspiration from the neighbourhood (barra funda) in São Paulo where Spaniol (Felipe Torquato) grew up as a kid and rediscovered when coming back from a long year touring around the world. 

The music is inspired by Felipe’s walks down the streets of the neighbourhood, originally known for its community of Spanish immigrants, going to the local park, Agua Branca, or visiting the neighbourhood’s numerous strange bars.

Opener Moinho is the name of a favela in Barra Funda where, over the past year there have been increasing confrontations between the local community and the police. In February 2017 Felipe met a young kid called Everson while working on the soundtrack for a public theatre piece. The two bonded over their love of rap and poetry and the result is this heady mix of baile funk, deep-dark, organic electronica and Everson’s gravely rap verses.

The EP closes with epic instrumental Asturias, which features guitars played by Felipe (one of the first real pieces he learnt) and is a homage to the producer’s own Spanish heritage.

Agua Branca takes its name, and its inspiration, from a park just two blocks down from where Felipe lives and where he used to play as a kid. Today it has been transformed with an incredible café and has become a nature reserve.

Sale de Baile featuring Tugce & Cosmic e Damiao is a nod to the old-style saloons.

Lavradio is the name of Felipe’s street in Barra Funda and was written alongside Agustin (Barrio Lindo) when he stayed at Spaniol’s place. Agustín was one of Felipe’s first contacts in the scene and the two have built up a close relationship over the years.

SAN FRANCISCO’S VINYL DREAMS RECORDS DEBUTS WITH ROCHE

VDR is a new label from Michelangelo Battaglia aka Mike Bee, the man behind San Francisco’s epicenter of dance music culture, Vinyl Dreams record store. After five years going solo in the record retail biz, VDSF is finally branching out to produce their own in-house imprint: Vinyl Dreams Records! 

A bit about VDSF: 
Vinyl Dreams began as a partnership in 2011 between former Tweekin’ Records boss Darren Davis, and Michelangelo Battaglia, at the time a 14-year employee, manager of the dance/electronic section and section buyer at SF’s Amoeba Music. After helping set up shop online Mike went solo. Five years later, Vinyl Dreams is the HQ of the local dance music scene as well as a thriving part of the West Coast culture.

For our debut release we’re proud to present a 12” from local producer Ben Winans aka ROCHE (row-shay), whose previous releases for esteemed imprints like 100% Silk, Mathematics, Hobo Camp, Jacktone and ICEE HOT have set the stage for Ben to level up with an ambient LP on new SF label Perfect Location Records and more of his psychedelic, hardware based live performances in the future! 

Past live performances were the crucible for the two original tracks on this release, both being edited versions of longer live jams performed live at stalwart SF Wednesday weekly Housepitality and Legendary Bay Area 51 party Hostile Ambient Takeover. 

On “Solicitude” slightly broken beats punch through your speakers as a rising, jagged melody iterates itself into your brain - we call it Maximal Techno! 

Ben says “When We Danced Again” is in reference to “the first time I felt I was able to dance and smile again after losing loved ones in the Ghost Ship Fire. The track was from a live performance at Hostile Ambient Takeover, a remnant of the legendary Bay Area 51 performance space that was extremely influential in the development of our current Bay Area DIY club culture.” The track exudes emotion, drenched in anticipation, it feels as though it is meant to lift the weight off of your shoulders as it celebrates just that, a positive feedback loop that keeps rising and rising. 

For the remix we’ve called on well-known local DJ and producer Lily Ackerman of the Diacritic Collective and recent resident with As You Like It. Lily has been making quite a name for herself, taking her brand of deep house and deeper techno to local audiences for a few years now. She is well respected in the Bay Area dance music community and has been gaining momentum with each step forward! 

Lily’s remix of “Solicitude” tightens things up with the skill of a seasoned DJ/producer, and aims directly at the dancefloor, conjuring up visions of late nights lost in Berlin and early mornings between fog and fog machines deep in the Northern California wilderness. A great compliment to the original and a perfect way to round out our first release.

Ben Mansfield's not quite club music, not quite pub music manifesto goes from strength to strength, this time hitting us up with an indefinable track from Lie of the Land, the fact that it doesn't fit into any category fits in perfectly with Cosmic Pint Glass's perfectly imperfect in-between style.
Lie Of The Land have a bit of notoriety on the Porn Wax label already and have managed to straddle the line between techno and a bit of acid with just the right amount of chill and this lands directly in the lap of the Cosmic Pint Glass sound.
In spite of the slightly experimental feel this one is so pleasing on the ear with just the right hint of acid, just the right hint of downtempo, making this one cross over nicely between the DJs who like to play late and the ones who like to play early.  Having already plugged the fact that this label is Norwich based it would be unfair to say that this is top of the A1 North Norfolk playlist, however, this track is as big as Delia Smith having a half time pep talk with the Canaries fans...

PREMIERE - FRAK - Jammin Kebap (Cosmic Pint Glass)

We have a considered, dance floor thinker of a tune from Theory of Movement, a collab between two die hard musical enthusiasts, Grant and Dan Piu. They've pieced together the sort of tune that has multiple parts, sequences and sections all which ebb and flow singularly into more than the sum of their parts. Faireline is equal parts incredibly simple, and intricately complex.

Think how many strings form together to make a rope, except in this ill thought out analogy, the fibres are wavelengths, and the rope a fully formed digital music file format. Expect more melody driven phrases being cut with pure percussive head nodding goodness, all as that same beat washes over and over. Bliss.

Julian G's first offering to wax is this beautifully reflective track that sits somewhere in the middle of House and Techno, we're going to go with Frosty House on this one! And what a perfect time of year for it! Cosmic Pint Glass has been sitting on this one for awhile now, but it seemed a good winter warmer for as the colder weather kicks in.

Julian started out distributing vinyl for various House labels in the mid 1990’s and the House sickness is still with him, he's runs the Classic 80's / 90's House and Techno group and from listening to so much you can imagine his collection is strong! Even though he's escaped to the fine city of Norwich, he can still be found busting out the occasional parties in his home turf in South London.

Premiere: Experimental Housewife - Wasted Weather

Dial records is excited to announce Dial76 - four remixes for Lawrence‘s recent album "Illusion" with contributions by Shinedoe, Tracey, Trux and Carsten Jost. Amsterdam based Shinedoe, who’s productions have been widely admired and played by Dial DJs from Lawrence to Efdemin since her earliest releases, provides a warmly enchanting Techno version of "Crystal". Also from Amsterdam and newest addition to the Dial Records stable is Tracey who’s debut record "Biostar" was released on Dial earlier this year. His uptempo electro construct integrates the sounds of the original effortlessly into his own narrative. Mysterious producer Trux impressed with his concept album "Orbiter" on Avenue 66 last year and delivers an exciting ambient track with reminiscences of a shadowy beat. Lastly the traditional contribution of a remix by Dial Records co-founder Carsten Jost rounds up the lineup with a warm Rhodes driven House version of "Transitions".
