The São Paulo based collective, Sonido Trópico, have long been establishing themselves as a new voice to be heard within the latin-american scene.

They now take a big step forward in founding a Label. Their first official release, SONIDO TRÓPICO VOL. 1, contains 13 tracks that put into waves exactly what Sonido Trópico is all about. The Producers and DJs who's work appear on this first album have not only played at Sonido Trópico's already infamous parties, but have worked alongside Sonido's 4 Resident DJs (Spaniol, Nirso, Salvador Araguaya & El Peche) in bringing new life and energy to the Sâo Paulo scene. Together they have reinterpreted and expanded, beyond precedent, the horizons of electronic music within the ultra-creative scene in São Paulo.

Agora tomamos um grande passo. Fundamos um Selo de música com o lançamento de nossa primeira compilação, SONIDO TRÓPICO VOL. I, com 13 músicas dedicatórias a o que é a Sonido Trópico. Os produtores que compuseram esta coletânea, não somente tocaram em nossas festas, mas moldaram a nossa construção através de suas músicas e interações com os nossos DJs. Juntos expandimos, de forma sem precedentes, os horizontes da musica eletrônica existente na cena underground paulistana.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, he was suspended for Xangô ogã at eight years old, which became the awakening to a life dedicated to liturgical percussion. At age of 19 he moved to the United States, where he would remain for 17 years, playing with great names of salsa, Latin jazz, and Afro-Cuban folklore. Back in Brazil, he played and recorded with several Brazilian artists, from Nando Reis to Monobloco, from Ramiro Musotto to Baby do Brazil, from Humberto Gessinger to Pavilhão 9, etc. His first solo CD, "Bá" was nominated for the Brazilian Music Prize, and is now preparing to release his second album, "RITUAL".

A letra foi composta por Braulino Lima em 1993 e selecionada em um festival de toadas no Amazonas.
Regravada em 1996 pela Banda Carrapicho, a música chegou aos ouvidos do produtor francês Patrick Bruel e levada para a Europa onde estourou e fez muito sucesso com a banda.

"Manhã de Carnaval" ("Carnival Morning") is a song by Brazilian composer Luiz Bonfá and lyricist Antônio Maria. "Manhã de Carnaval" appeared as a principal theme in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro by the french director Marcel Camus. The film's soundtrack also included songs by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes, as well as her composition by Bonfá ("Samba de Orfeu"). "Manhã de Carnaval" appear in the film, including versions sung or hummed by both the principal characters (Orfeu and Euridice), as well as an instrumental version, so that the song has been described as the main musical theme of the film. In the portion of the film in which the song is sung by the character Orfeu, portrayed by Breno Mello, the song was dubbed by Agostinho dos Santos. The song was initially rejected for inclusion in the film by Camus, but Bonfá was able to convince the director that the music for Manhã de Carnaval was superior to the song Bonfá composed as a replacement. Orfeu Negro was an international success (winning, for example, an Academy Award in 1960), and brought the song to a large audience. "Manhã de Carnaval"' became one of the first Bossa Nova compositions to gain popularity outside Brazil. Particularly in the United States, the song is considered to be one of the most important Brazilian Jazz/Bossa songs that helped establish the Bossa Nova movement in the late 1950s. "Manhã de Carnaval" has become a jazz standard in the U.S., while it is still performed regularly by a wide variety of musicians around the world in its vocalized version or just as an instrumental one. In the U.S., the song is also known as "A Day in the Life of a Fool", "Carnival", "Theme from Black Orpheus", or simply "Black Orpheus". In France, the song is also known as "La Chanson d'Orphée". All versions of foreign texts were written by lyricists other than Antônio Maria, using Bonfá's original music."
