It is my great pleasure to announce the 15th episode of Nachtblumen courtesy of Hüseyin Evirgen also known as Magna Pia. He is one half of Cassegrain, and is working on his own solo material as Magna Pia since 2016.

He studied composition, piano and electronic music at the University of Istanbul and Mozarteum Salzburg. He has composed music for theatre, dance performances and mixed media for almost two decades. 

As Magna Pia, Hüseyin Evirgen focuses on providing combative dance floor trips and unorthodox sonic moods with subtle 90s techno references while he keeps his interest in combining contemporary techno music with archaic symbolism. His solo releases include EPs on Soma Records, his debut album on Feral Note and his solo release on Arcing Seas.

In his set for Nachtblumen, Hüseyin delivers a very dynamic and diverse story, in which one can clearly hear how perfectly in control he is of every element. This hour is a great representation of what I love about the sound of Magna Pia – it’s deep, dark, emotional, driving and it can hypnotise you into a relentless state of dancing for your mind and body. Después de unos años en los que se música ha sido apoyada por numerosos artirstas de la escena, Víctor nos descubre la cara más visceral del techno con su nuevo AKA. Sus producciones están basados en sonidos crudos y ritmos rápidos, una fusión que nos transporta al techno más underground.

Tras un 2022 en el que hemos podido ver sus trabajos en numerosos sellos de la escena nacional e internacional, actualmente podéis verlo actuar frecuentemente en diversos locales de la escena gallega.

In February I played at @foldldn for the @codeword-london launch of my Stream State compilation. The night was perfect - exactly what I was craving from a club night in London, with an intimacy that I haven't felt in years in the UK - and with recent events pre-corona threatening FOLD's existence, we were all so happy to pull that night off! Happening a month or so before the Corona lockdowns hit, with @efdemin and @jamaicasuk both on top form, it was instantly one of my highlights of the past years, so I recorded this mix for Codeword's monthly show on @threadsradio in honour of that sweet night in the East End! A big shout out to @cukier-codeword at Codeword for all his hard work and a great collab. Hope you enjoy the mix - it was recorded in one take at Studio Db in Berlin. Reclaim Your City 017 | Fiedel (Berlin)

For Fiedel the three main musical influences are Electro/early Hip Hop (Egyptian Lover, Ice-T, 2 Live Crew, Mantronix), Acid/House (since 1986/87) and the Hard Wax record store in Berlin Kreuzberg. He started to dj publicly in the mid 90s on Mondays at a club called Subversiv, which then has been a constant in Berlin’s underground techno scene. Fiedel has demonstrably been one of the first djs to play Electro in this context. Besides he played serious techno from Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, the Burden Brothers, Mathew Johnson, Monolake, Soundhack and many others. When the moment is right, he also plays Hi-NRG. As he puts hit himself: Music should not be pigeonholed.

In 1996 and 1997 he released two eps on MMM with Errorsmith. Especially their track „Donna“ is considered a much played techno classic. Apart from his residency at OstGut / Berghain, he loves to play at clubs like Elastic (Leipzig), Suicide (Berlin), Club 69 (Glasgow), Ostklub (Frankfurt/Main) and Meccanoid (Melbourne).

Reclaim Your City 017 | Fiedel

Dirty Epic welcomes aboard the Los Angeles-based DJ and producer @silentservant (Sandwell District, Jealous God, Hospital Productions) for the first episode of their Amplify Series.

Juan Mendez has been composing for a decade an obscure and powerful techno under the name of Silent Servant. Cradled as a teenager by post-punk, the Californian has retained the taste for dark and tense atmospheres, which can be found in his polished and violent productions. 
Released at the end of 2018, on the prestigious Hospital Productions label, “Shadows Of Death And Desire” is his second album. It continues the path carved out by “Negative Fascination”, published in 2011, which is a true electro-noise manifesto of fascinating darkness.

Hyperactive man of multiple projects (Tropic Of Cancer, label Cytrax, art director), he draws his inspiration from the DIY 70s’ post punk and wave obscurities and later on, electronic warehouse parties in DTLA.

Nobody can escape the ravages of Silent Servant.
