I am delighted to release this live recording of Friday's Song performed by the very talented pianist and composer Joseph Haspel @joseph-haspel .   His performance has really brought the music to life with a nuanced, sensitive and emotional interpretation.  I am very grateful to Joe for the time, dedication and energy he gave to this piece.  Thank you so much Joe.

I would also like to thank Joe for all the support he has given over the years I have been active on Soundcloud.  But most importantly, I want to highly recommend his own compositions.  They are among the best of new music that I have discovered here or elsewhere.  So, I strongly encourage you to explore his works at @joseph-haspel .   And if you are like me, it took some time to learn his musical language, but like any great composer, learning their language is well worth it.

Who among us has not wished for that third road – distant alike from the sordidness of the one and the almost inhuman self-denial of the other? And for elves, leprechauns, the “fey folk,” and those rare humans they’ve adopted as their own, it seems to work. But for the rest of us – a wash. But we are artists, and can’t stop trying to find it, or at least picture what it might be like! The words here are from the Old Ballad, “Thomas the Rhymer,” hopefully my Scots is at least passable. Dear Tom

When I write music, I try to go on a journey to feel emotions, whatever they may be.  To me, music is a celebration of life; for all the pain and suffering we may endure, it is a gift to be alive.
