Eluize - Distance [CKNOWLP1]

Oscillate Tracks 003 is the first split EP featuring resident Johanna Knutsson and alumni Karen Gwyer. The two performed together early last year, Karen live with her shimmering textures before Johanna introduced her bleepy tales. Their musical affinity was easily recognisable and our aim was to bring their dynamic connection from one fleeting experience onto the enduring form of a record. 

On Johanna’s side, the Swedish producer plays with tempo and panning, constructing vast soundscapes on the backdrop of a dubbed-out alternating bass drum with refrains from her Nord synth rippling throughout. On the flip we find Karen exploring melancholic ambient IDM, layering sparkling notes over lush melodies interlaced with rapid percussions, forming utterly exquisite works of art.

The fairground was the talk of the town, a huge event that only took place once a year. It was only there for a short time and then it would disappear completely, as if it had never existed in the first place. Many people came from near and far to experience the sights and sounds, a feast for the eyes and the ears. In the centre of the fairground a small tent sat shrouded in silver and gold fabrics, the sweet smell of incense effusing from inside. The fortune teller beckoned people in one by one, and each time a person left it seemed as if they were a new person, leaving their old lives behind in favour of a new one. Their previous existence had become but a shadow of a former reality...

Instrument Of Change present the inaugural release on their new label - a VA EP from four producers operating out of different cities across the world. The Rotterdam based imprint have enlisted the help of Tallinn-based Nikolajev, Chicago's Radius, label head Steven Pieters and Ransom Note family Mattiik. London-based producer and DJ Mattiik, who also runs online music website Viscera, offers up some deep dub techno awash with ethereal synths and a subtle acid line.

Cette semaine sur C Lab nous recevions le Hollandais Luca dell'Orso (@lucadellorso). Ses créations sont sorties sur Red Laser Records (@red-laser-records), Bordello A Parigi (@bordelloaparigi), SoHaSo (alias Something Happening Somewhere @sohaso)) & XXX (@xxxthelabel), et bientôt sur Italo Moderni (@italo_moderni). 
Pas vraiment attiré par la perfection, Luca aime le son de bande magnétique brut et vivant des années 80. Pas de techno millimétrée donc, son univers c’est la minimal wave, l’italo disco et l’electro. Son mix est un gros bordel de créativité et on ressent tout le plaisir qu’il a eu à l’enregistrer. Bonne écoute.
