Signals 14 has landed. Viktor Kalmia brings the Fury all the way from Finland. 

Helsinki-based artist Viktor Kalima is an artist with his own brand of commanding and multifaceted club music. For a decade he has steadily been releasing music through multiple aliases such as Noir Hour and SEXFORSELFHELP - and plays a key role in several bands, production units and collaborations. 

Kalima came to life as yet another side project in 2012 but manifested itself quickly as the center focus for solo output and has left a productive trail ever since. Influences range from body music, dancehall, 90’s rave and formative dubstep - and can all be heard morphing together. Look out for his next album ’Perfect Eye’, which will arrive this spring on the Italian label Infidel Bodies. 

This hour consists solely of Kalima productions, many of which haven't yet seen the light of day. Hard, dark and menacing electronics throughout.

@ofparadiserecords have no doubt been one of the most well respected underground dance music labels of the past 5 years, consistently showcasing new talent and pushing forward thinking sounds. Their discography includes early releases from the likes of Stratton and Will Lister, whilst recent additions from Krotone and forthcoming Fiesta Soundsystem are a sign of things to come. In addition to the label,  Lauren (Fade) & Paul P run a design cmpany called Studio LP, a real inspiration for any creatives doing things independently across multiple formats. 

During this hour expect to hear both existing and forthcoming OP releases, plus the cheeky addition of a pending track on Earful of Wax.

Jucid Guest mix S5 EP 12

This week we have one of the scenes’ OGs and that is Saint Petersburg-based DJ @KARAWAI . 

DJ KARAWAI has put together an icy mix full of variety for you guys, featuring heavy breaks right through to acidic bassline ghetto tek. The mixing is really something in this, he has kept his styles very creative throughout the mix. 

KARAWAI is also an avid producer, he has recently released his own EP over on the Russia-based @urwaxx label. The EP is called "GoaTekk" which was both a digital & vinyl release. To all you vinyl heads out there we deffo recommend you go pick this one up! He also has another EP in the works so make sure to keep locked for that.

Hosting episode 15 we have Leipzig-based DJ & Producer @deejaydetox. 

DJ Detox has been producing for a number of years and we're sure many of you guys are aware of what DJ Detox is all about! You lot may know him from releasing on some of the scenes most consistant labels such as FTP, Raiders and more. 

In 2020 DJ Detox released a EP on Leipzig label "R.A.N.D. Muzik Recordings" where he put together 4 bass driven tracks showcasing his mastery of electro, techno & breaks. 

The mix he has concocted for us today is very different and refreshing, Detox has put together a real nice set for you guys this week. Delving into various styles and keeping the energy high throughout with seamless and lovely mixing.

This week we are joined by the main man @mate999. Based in Paris, Maté is both a DJ and producer. Maté is well known in the scene for his consistent output of tracks, edits and mixes. DJXWIFE Guest mix S5 EP 17

Bringing season 5 to a close we have German based DJ & Producer @3diz. 3diz is running a fairly low profile at the minute but we are sure that’ll change soon as more start to notice his talents. As you can tell from this mix he has a really good ear for it and has also treated you all to some unreleased goodies.

He has worked with previous Crazed alumni both Soda Kids and DJ Detox, collaborating with them on multiple tracks. With the track with Detox featured on a sick V/A by German based label Mechtronica. 3diz will also be releasing a track with us in the near future as part of our new track series which will be kicking off very soon.

3diz Guest mix S5 EP 18

Vakula is a prolific Ukranian producer, DJ and outspoken artist who very much has his own sound and is a Dekmantel family member for a long time now. Releasing a vast amount of house and techno that touches on everything from super sweet and deep to melodically off kilter, stripped back and ornate to magically cosmic. Before now the Leleka boss has released a number of conceptually strong LPs and plenty of EPs as well as an album of psychedelic rock and spoken word. His album 'You've Never Been To Konotop' is a modern classic. He takes risks and isn’t afraid to buck trends, basically, and for that reason has a cult following around the world. 

Proof that Vakula does things his own way is this mix (released on his birthday) which focusses completely on techno. At around two and a half hours, it really allows him to stretch his legs into a weird and spaced out techno world. From Detroit and Millsian to old school and jacking, many different moods and grooves are explored here but never do energy levels dip below full on sweaty.

an indubitable violence.

FR : Eendracht s’est forgé un univers singulier au fil de ses voyages, notamment aux Pays-Bas. Il
puise ses racines dans la techno rave des années 90, l’électro, jusqu’à la techno hardcore. Son nom,
synonyme d’unité, d’harmonie, reflète le caractère unique de ses performances, sans pour autant
cacher une violence certaine.

It is no stretch to say that Sao Paulo's Trepanado is at the heart of the Brazilian music scene. His Selvagem party is one of the most influential in terms of the sounds it pushes, and his label Selva Discos is also hugely respited for the sounds it curates. Trepanado himself has also put out a vital compilation for Hello Sailor Recordings that spotlighted Brazil's Street Soul sound of the late eighties and early nineties. As a DJ he joins the dots between those classic niches and the contemporary electronic landscape thanks to his tireless devotion to digging for wax. 

This multi-genre maestro distills also his considerable know how into a lively carnival mix that oozes  Brazilian charm in the bird calls, whistles and Spanish vocals, but also seems to reference UK rave culture, traditional Latin rhythms and throwback house music. It's a full flavour, fully bumping mix that makes that feeling of being in the middle of an outdoor dance floor on a hot summer's day feel tantalisingly close.
