Gimme A Break Records presents Nova Cheq’s ‘Staying Alive EP’, featuring three deeply emotive and powerful Breakbeat productions. Nova Cheq has an extensive output centred around a passion for experimentalism. Grounded in a techno aesthetic revealed through his self-released album ‘High Priestess’ and EP ‘Avignon’, Nova Cheq has constructed a broad network of connections through pounding releases on Crash Victims, Never Decay, Jerry Horny and CARE4LIFE. However, Nova Cheq’s music cannot be limited to one genre as shown through his jungle- and dubstep-influenced release on Trax Haven and his track for the highly admirable Grief Into Rage compilation. In his EP for Gimme A Break, this Leeds-based producer contemplates music’s association with mental health. Through a combination of delicate synths, vocal manipulations and crunching breaks, Nova Cheq expresses the healing possibilities of creativity in an undeniably profound collection of music.

French Duo, Ghetto 25,  is out with their latest EP on Raw Culture’s new sublabel Ghetto Culture. This is the freshman release on the newly minted sublabel, which focuses on a raw ghetto house sound. Dream Team (4 Black Pop Use Only) is the 3rd track on the EP and lives up to the labels focus, with its 808 break beat kick drum and toms, hissing high-hats, and a repetitive vocal sample characteristic of that classic ghetto house sound, this track is definitely booty shaking music. This EP is a limited vinyl only release with only 300 being pressed.
