This is a story of a totally real worm dude named Vasiliy. Learn from his tale.

The song itself has a funny creation story. At my Birthday Zoom party (2020 special), an old friend of mine insisted that I sing my "Little Worm Vasiliy" song, which I never even heard of, let alone have written. So I made it up on the spot. Then, realizing it was actually good, rushed to write down whatever I remembered, polished off, and... here we go. Three cheers for Vasiliy. 

I'm not even sure how to describe the style. Pop punk? A bit of an Offspring or Green Day inspiration. It just sounds fun.

BIOGRAPHY

COSMIC ONION was the noisy lo-fi school band of Adam Cresswell who went on to form a number of other bands. SALOON (who released three albums, recorded 3 Peel Sessions and had 4 John Peel Festive 50 hits, including the 2002 number one), ARTHUR & MARTHA (who were an acclaimed electronica duo) and RODNEY CROMWELL his present act. He now also runs the record label Happy Robots.

COSMIC ONION were a musical band that merged punk, new wave and proto-Britpop making lo-fi music 4-track cassette music with the cheapest musical instruments (mostly borrowed), kids toys and found sounds from around the house. Influenced by Pixies, Joy Division, shoegaze and grunge they sounded, for the most part, like the worst of all worlds.  

Supermarket 2020 was Cresswell's first solo recording conceived as shopping-mall music for a supermarket in a distant nightmarish dystopian future.

HSR031: ‘Managing’ is the latest well-formed excretion from an ever-obtuse Australian trio. Despite being spread out between states for much of their existence (nine years and counting) Red Red Krovvy speak their own idiot language with absolute fluency. ‘Managing’ manages to destroy every specious straight world “success” indicator (Company Job, Real Estate) replacing them with perfectly fucked haikus about simpler realities: dogs shitting in the wrong places, backyard bird burials, vengeance. Sonically their lineage within all the most acerbic Aussie murder punk is summed up with the line “Poetry’s indulgent shit / superior complex wit,” but this is anything but retro. RRK transcend niceties like bass guitar but their sound is buzzy and bombastic, stomping but not theatrical, a perfect vehicle for singer Ash’s haranguing of bastards in power with her devastating simplicity. This is Mean Music for a Mean World, ten perfectly nasty little songs for when you’ve ground your teeth down til there’s only one pure conviction left: The Rich Must Pay. (Bryony Beynon)
