Iam still in love with this weekend. Saturday our own https://soundcloud.com/afterhour-sounds event at https://soundcloud.com/klunkerkranich and sunday at the beloved gART.n place. Perfect weather, supberb crowd and atmosphere there. And a sound system that blows your mind away. A perfect combination to serve you my definition of downtempo. 

I opened the open air, so I had the opportunity to play some of my beloved melodic and hypnotic downtempo tracks, which I usualy like to play in podcasts only. After some time I changed the mood a little bit and added more bounce and energy to the floor but still kept the hypnotic atmosphere there. Plus moved the BPM step by step up... until I ended at 110 bpm, what https://soundcloud.com/haensenundgretel asked me for :D

I think it worked out perfectly. This idea of a symbiosis between the crowd and a dj is something what I felt there during my set and especially at the end. And Iam so gratefull for that. Especially because I reg. dont play downtempo sets more as you maybee know. Maybee I should overthink that point of view. Or https://soundcloud.com/maria-theresia-von-eberg? ;)

Last weekend we were on closing duties for our @pandora-crew party at Club Erdbeermund and seized the opportunity to play a faster set than usual. What can we say - we had the best time in our favorite steam sauna dancing our asses off with this fire atmosphere and the cutest crowd as always. <3

Wenn gemeinsam Träume wahr werden... Was ein Festival, was eine Insel, was ne Crew, was ne Crowd und was ein morgen! Da ich mich erst vor 2 Jahren auf den Events der @mystic-tales-berlin in Downtempo verliebt habe, war es schon ultra schön zu hören, dass die Mystics uns vom BeYond Kollektiv dabei haben wollten um ihre schöne Insel in Polen in eine zauberhafte Parallelwelt zu verwandeln✨. Dass @thisisrakaethe und ich dann auch noch den Mainfloor für @hhaller einheizen durften war ein einziges Träumchen. Nur schön und unfassbar aufregend die eigenen Lieblingstracks und die ersten eigenen Produktionen auf so einer Anlage zu betanzen.  Und wieviele Lieblingsmenschen mit uns in der Hitze breit grinsend sich wild tanzend in der Musik verloren haben werde ich literally nie vergessen. Wir können die nächsten gemeinsamen Abenteuer kaum abwarten🚀

When dreams come true together... What a festival, what an island, what a crew, what a crowd and what a morning!  Since I fell in love with downtempo only 2 years ago at the Mystics events, it was super special to hear that the Mystics wanted us from the BeYond collective there to turn their beautiful island into a magical parallel world. That @thisisrakaethe  and I were booked to heat up the mainfloor for @hhaller was literally a dream come true. Just beautiful and incredibly exciting to dance to your own favorite tracks and your first own productions on such a sound system.  And I will literally never forget how many of our favorite people lost themselves in the music, smiling brightly and dancing wildly in the heat. We can hardly wait for the next adventures together.
Big big thank you to the @mystic-tales-berlin who made dreams come true for so many people in Poland. Only love to @beyondcollectiveberlin for the dreamlike family trip on this mystical island.

zharte Rakäthe I Mystic Creatures Festival 2023 I Bassmassage zum Frühstück auf dem Mystic Ground

Dieses Liverecording erblickte bereits im Mai 2023 das Licht der Welt, als es auf den Teppichen der Beate Uwe zum Socken-Schwoof lud. Ein halbes Jahr später schließt sich der Kreis der Jahreszeiten, wenn schuheloses Tanzen nach dem Sommer wieder indoor stattfindet, gleichzeitig jedoch herbstliche Melancholie und Nachdenklichkeit die damaligen Frühlingsgefühle ersetzen. Ja, die Welt dreht sich weiter, auch dann, wenn sie gerade mal wieder Kopf steht und die Reflexion zum Thema Feierhedonismus mitunter Kopfzerbrechen bereitet. Doch weil sich die Welt eben weiterdreht, so tut dies auch unsere Schleichcast-Reihe, in der Überzeugung, dass Musik dort Brücken schlägt, wo Worte fehlen, zur universellen Sprache wird und Trost spendet. Ein kleiner safe space, in dem Vertrautheit Sicherheit bedeutet und Reisen ins Unbekannte sowie die Neugier auf erweiterte Horizonte ein wenig Ablenkung gewähren. In diesem Sinne: Viel Spaß mit Schleichcast°42 von @elbatos!

~Zeit für ein schleichendes Frage & Antwort Spiel~

>>Wer bist Du & woher kommst Du?
Hi, ich bin der Jorma, kompletter Name Jorma Jelko Hansing. Viele kennen mich einfach unter meinem Alias El Batos. Ich komme ursprünglich aus dem Friesland, da kommt auch mein zweiter Vorname her, der Erste ist finnisch. Aus familiären Gründen bin ich dann mit 8 Jahren nach Hannover gekommen, wo ich immer noch lebe.

>>Wie kamst Du zum Auflegen?
Um die Abizeit habe ich das Feiern und Tanzen für mich entdeckt und innerhalb kurzer Zeit die elektronische Musik lieben gelernt. Mein Interesse und meine Leidenschaft bewusst Tanzen zu gehen und Acts zu hören wurde immer größer und so setze ich mich immer mehr mit der Szene auseinander. Irgendwann erkannte ich gefühlt jeden zweiten Track, der in den Clubs gespielt wurde. Außerdem habe ich schon immer die Lieblingsmusik meiner Freunde aufgesaugt, und nachdem ich dann bei einer Workshop Reihe namens “Madebyself” die erste Party mitgestalten konnte, war ich Feuer & Flamme, selber aufzulegen. Mit meinem damaligen Mitbewohner Kai habe ich mir dann das Auflegen beigebracht, erste Gigs gespielt und dann ging die Reise über eigene Veranstaltungen & Kollektive immer weiter. Außerdem habe ich eine riesige Plattensammlung von meinem verstorbenen Vater geerbt, weshalb Musik schon früh eine besonders heilsame Bedeutung für mich bekommen hat.

>>Was hat dich für das Set inspiriert?
Das Set ist eine Aufnahme aus der Beate Uwe, von der Sonntagsparty Beate Barfuß aus dem Mai diesen Jahres. Ich habe versucht, ein fluffiges Set zu spielen, das slow & gefühlvoll startet und die Leute auf eine Reise mitnimmt. Die Energie startet deep, langsam & organisch, über kraftvolleren, aber immer noch slowen Tracks, bevor es mit runtergepitchtem fast schon Midtempo-Sound verträumt & hypnotisch weitergeht. Meine Inspiration aus dem Set habe ich aus frischen Releases meiner Lieblingslabels, ein paar Promos, sowie Favoriten aus meiner aktuellen Bibliothek gezogen. Das Set ist dann im Moment entstanden. 

>>Möchtest Du auf etwas aufmerksam machen, das Dich beschäftigt?
Bei dieser Frage denke ich sofort an die aktuellen Vorfälle in Israel. Es macht mich traurig und es schockiert mich, was dort passiert ist und immer noch passiert. Unschuldige Menschen, die einfach nur tanzen wollten, wurden getötet und Freundesfreunde werden vermisst. Ich bin immer noch fassungslos über die Ereignisse. Die Bilder von einem Festivalgelände, das teilweise einem Schlachtfeld gleicht, sind einfach nur heftig & unglaublich. Mein Mitgefühl und meine Solidarität gehen an alle Opfer, Familien & Angehörige raus.  Ich kann mir nicht denken oder nachfühlen, wie es ist, davon direkt betroffen zu sein. Gleichzeitig löst der Gedanke in mir einfach so viel aus, dass Unschuldige an einem Ort getötet und verschleppt wurden, der für Freiheit & Lebensfreude stehen sollte. Ich bin dankbar, Teil einer Szene zu sein, die nicht still bleibt, sondern Solidarität bekundet und zum Handeln aufruft.

Last weekend I had the pleasure to join the celebrations for Rebellion der Träumer's 10 years birthday at Renate in Berlin.

This was nothing short of a spectacular weekend - with lovely people and amazing music for hours on end. Thanks to the packed, smiling and supportive dancefloor the three hours I was behind decks flew by (and I was super happy to get an extra hour on top of my original two!).

Loving high fives go to the friends in front row and to all the dancers, and a special thanks to those who went out of their way to give a word of appreciation after my set, both at Renate and after the event: I usually get super shy when it happens, but it means a lot.

A huge thanks to Renate for hosting the shenanigans and to the Rebellion gang for the invitation and the care - I felt right at home from beginning to end and look forward to connect with y'all next time ❤

✔️ What are your musical influences?

Sophie:  I come from a family where classical music was always played and listened to, and  I played  piano & harp during my childhood. I later discovered electronic music, then downtempo music from Germany, and immediately loved it. Today, Ninze and his project Wide Awake are a main source of inspiration for me, but I like to mix different genres in my DJ-Sets.

Damien: I was mainly a huge fan of the 60-70 psychedelic rock or progressive rock but I also loved the blues, soul, disco or Spanish flamenco or French and Italian singer/songwriter. I wanted to be a rockstar at 14 years old and started playing the guitar and the piano. I ended up being a DJ and had the opportunity to play in nice venues. Cool! :)

✔️ What do you think makes a good after-hours?

Being able to offer some change in the dynamic of the party. Giving a fresh air and a new perspective to people to enjoy music in a different way. In our opinion it is often at the end of the parties that the dance floor kinda have a nice unique vibe where you feel that the crowd is really united. 

✔️ What thoughts would you like to share with us about the gig?

It might sound a bit cheesy like those motivation speeches you can hear or read on the internet but in this case we kind of feel it this way. Doing a set together is not always easy, but in the end we really loved the result because it reflects both of us and we really managed to overlap the songs in a very coherent storyline.

It was awesome since we played this set exactly one year to the day after our first b2b at Kitkat Club in Berlin. It was a great honour and pleasure to be reunited again behind the decks to play for the closing of the main stage " Le Cèdre Olympien" at Chateau Perché Festival in France. We would like to thanks all the dancers who made the ride with us and stayed until the early hours of the morning, Christian Kahl for the invitation,  and the Kamiwaza crew for building this amazing stage. And last but not least, we thank Afterhours sounds for including this memorable set in your wonderful Podcast serie. MERCI <3 We hope you can enjoy this recording.

Last weekend, this was our debut at Kater Blau for our first Crépite. showcase, and it was a beautiful night. 

This club has been shaping our sound and taste so much and is a place where we have so many good memories. Especially on this Acid Bogen floor. So it was a real big honour this time to be behind the decks and to share our music.

This set from @airka-paris & @farn-berlin is waving between genres. Starting relatively soft, and going quickly to more heavy sounds, before keep exploring the hidden sides of the gems spectrum.

We are very happy to share with you a memory of that night and we hope you will enjoy this set. We felt so much support before, during and after the gig, so we decided to let some of the crowd atmosphere at the end in the recording.

Crépite. is a friendship and strong bond between Paris & Berlin, a music family that started in 2015.

A beautiful gem that slowly crackles (in french, 'crépite') and spreads deep sounds blending elements of house, techno and all bassy, gritty and minimal subgenres in between.

We are releasing exclusive music under our imprint 'Crépite. Records' and we curate 'The Gemstone' podcast Series.
We also organize events and showcases aiming at promoting musical talents, foster cross-border connections between artists, and create opportunities to share precious moments together.

Crépite started as a group of friends, sharing the same passion and similar music tastes, experiencing and evolving together as a DJ collective. Going along with starting to produce our own music, we then decided to start the record label in 2020.
