David Willis is an independent indie artist, rapper, and producer from Colorado, professionally known as QWillis. He started making music in 2015 and dropped his first official song in 2021. He’s a Christian, but his music isn’t strictly Christian, his faith shapes how he sees the world, not the box he fits into. His sound is honest, emotional, and hands-on, with QWillis often producing his own tracks and focusing on real-life experiences.

He stays fully independent and works with a small, close team: his girlfriend, his manager Max, and Italian indie artist and producer Dissy. Together, they’re building something genuine, focused more on meaning and growth than chasing trends.

Father Figure is the genre-bending brainchild of producer/DJ/vocalist Matt Weishaupt (aka Matty Dubz), launched in 2017 and transformed into a formidable duo in 2022 with the addition of longtime live collaborator Matt McLaren. 

Based in Albany, NY, the duo draws deep from the soul of Golden Era NY hip-hop—think J Dilla, DJ Premier, Pete Rock—while branching into the lush textures of electronic music and the improvisational spirit of the jam scene. The result? A sonic experience that’s both nostalgic and boundary-pushing.

From gritty, bassy boom-bap beats to expansive, immersive soundscapes, their music is a living collage—always evolving, always vibing.

Father Figure has lit up stages at premier festivals including Elements Music & Arts Festival, Camp Bisco, Dreamscape, Fire Lights, Karnival of the Arts, Big Dub, and NY Harvest Fest, among many others. They’ve supported a wide range of artists such as Pretty Lights, CloZee, Manic Focus, Michal Menert, Maddy O’Neal, Saxsquatch, Of The Trees, SoDown, Tripp St. and Marvel Years, bringing their unique blend of head-nodding grooves and electronic energy to every crowd they touch.
