AIWA opens up the EP with cinematic soundscapes of Screens and continues with the fusion-funk hardware jam of Beach Monk — while Fortress Replica’s Afro-influenced percussions and U48’s tripped out synths showcase the diverse talent of AIWA.

Their journey had taken them to the bottom of a huge range of towering mountains, each covered in a thick glistening blanket of snow. They began the steady incline up the nearest and smallest mountain, eager to find out what lay at the top. The air around was fresh and crisp, making it the perfect conditions to ascend the slopes. But as they made their move, a force stopped them in their tracks. An invisible field that they couldn't cross. They were stuck at the foothills.

Belgian producer Placid One lands on Shaw Cuts with his Heroes Of The East EP, a story of love, pride and rivalry. This marks his third EP, following releases on Ransom Note Records and Nebulae, and sees him dive head first into pulsating drums, bright pads and menacing soundscapes.

The galaxy burst into life as the spaceship careered between exploding stars and flying comets. Out here in the depths of space there was little daylight and all that surrounded their tiny rocket was a dense foggy black but for the occasional sporadic boom and a flash. Noise echoed all around, a drone like sound which shook your insides to the very core, it was sickening yet strangely pleasant to feel so at odds with ones self amidst chaotic circumstances. This was living, this was life. That which lay back down there was not a comparison to the wild and wonderful experiences that you might find when dancing between the stars on a cosmic exploration...

Nigm appears on a new release titled "Crysta Ampullaris". The split EP is forthcoming and will be released by La Forge collective: the record itself is a top tier showcase of broody electronics and pensive dancefloor groovers.

Curated by Montreal based producer, Jean Grünewald (who goes under the alias ottoman.grüw) and online magazine, Mes Enceintes Font, 'Montreal Dances Across Borders' brings together the best from Montreal's underground dance scene, raising money for good causes and highlighting the principles of solidarity and unity that underpin dance music culture.

Although the compilation is available for free download, MDAB ask for pay-as-you-feel donations, raising money for 'Solidarity Across Borders'. Active since 2003, Solidarity Across Borders are a migrant network based in Montreal. Together they mobilise to support individuals and families who experience unjust treatment within the immigration and refugee system.

We have the first listen on Aquaventure's 'Expanding Uncertainty'; a name that feels particularly poignant. White noise dissonance, watery textures and distorted whispers give way to a punchy arrangement driven by bubbling robotics. A looping simulation of sorts, 'Expanding Uncertainty' is a clear representation of music as an art form.

DJ Godfather - Electro Beats For Freaks [Databass Records / DB-093]

The legendary DJ Godfather delivers his very first solo artist album, 'Electro Beats For Freaks'. DJ Godfather (Brian Jeffries) is one of the founding fathers of the Detroit Ghettotech scene. He started DJing at the age of 15 and within a few months was already playing in clubs and after-hour parties across the Motor City. By 17 he’d started making music and a year later, released his first solo record on Twilight 76 (the label he started with DJ Dick and Brian Gillespie). The creation of other labels followed including the influential Databass, which he revived in 2018. With a career spanning near on 3 decades, he's continued to deliver the goods as well as supporting new Detroit talent, as his Godfather moniker implies. As a DJ, his battle style turntablism has made him a hero in his city (you only have to witness the crowds he pulls at Detroit's Movement Festival) and the many places around the globe where he’s laid down his fine-tuned skills. Over the years it's gained him worldwide recognition and various DJing accolades. Even through 2020's Coronavirus lockdown he’s wowed audiences with his expert live streams. 

Despite the many tracks, EPs and mix compilations he's released over the years, 'Electro Beats For Freaks' is DJ Godfather's first proper artist album, and his biggest undertaking to date. With nearly 2 hours of music, it's a collection of 44 tracks that range from Ghettotech to Juke and Electro; Techhouse to Bmore. The tracks (only a handful of which have been previously released) transition into one another with a seamless flow, so they can either be heard individually or as a continuous playback.

The album will be followed through 2021 with a series of EP releases featuring longer length versions, a cappellas, instrumentals and BPM variations.
