Saint-Petersburg based artist Valer den Bit lands on the Depth label with a fantastic new EP featuring four new originals next to a couple of remixes from Ian Ludvig and West & Hill. 

Lira opens up with deep, rolling drums and some gorgeous piano chords draped over the top for a nice emotive vibe. Feya then keeps the cuddly moods going with warm drums and soft hits that are overlaid with aching motifs and more thoughtful piano chords. Next superb original Sonata then layers up more sunny synths with a tropical house groove that is full of warmth and soul for those open air parties. Matterhorn gets a little more dark and tech edge for late night dancing, with driving kicks but still plenty of lush melodies.  

Lira (West & Hill Remix) is an expansive, organic house cut that takes your head up into the clouds with its new age melodies and expansive grooves, then last of all Sonata (Ian Ludvig Remix) closes out with a deep, shuffling house groove perfect for cosy backrooms. 

This is a heartfelt EP that exudes real house class.

Following 2020’s ‘Mirror Man’ LP on Radio Slave’s Rekids, Detroit pioneer Robert Hood returns to the label with a four-track EP of his trailblazing minimal techno. Leading the release, ‘Chroma Light’ opens with cinematic pads and pounding 4/4 patterns as twisted synthesis modulates throughout for a striking start. Followed by ‘The Majestic (Deeper Edit)’, with rattling percussion and fiercely relentless stabs, Hood shows his intent in creating propulsive, dancefloor focussed cuts across the EP.

On the flip, ‘The Majestic’ takes the B1 spot, expanding on the previous track with wild synths and his signature machine-like drums before ‘Ultrasonic Room’ closes out the release with eerie atmospherics and an underlying hypnotic pulse taking centre stage.

A founding member of Underground Resistance alongside Mad Mike Banks and Jeff Mills, Robert Hood is one of techno’s originators, with his decorated career spanning three decades across labels like Tresor, Peacefrog, Music Man Records, and of course, his own M Plant.

Crosstown Rebels present the third in a trio of EPs featuring reworks from Krust’s lauded masterpiece ‘The Edge Of Everything’. The selection of top-drawer artists delighted to rub shoulders with the revered master now adds UNKLE, Hodge and DJ Nature to a list that has seen Masters At Work, Four Tet, Damian Lazarus, Batu, Calibre, LCY and Flynn all deliver inspired re-rubs.

Linking back to a shared history that saw Krust (alongside Roni Size) remix DJ Krush’s ‘Dig This Vibe’, and also provide their own track ‘Tribetoon’ for the seminal ‘Headz 2’ compilation, both on James Lavelle’s label Mo’Wax, now the influential DJ/producer/A&R delivers arguably his best ever work under the UNKLE alias: This is deep breakbeat goodness which sounds both classic and perfectly now.

A sonic son of Krust, fellow Bristolian Hodge works ‘Constructive Ambiguity’ into a proggy new school breaks monster that carves the original’s metallic bass into sharp new shapes, whilst West Country royalty and Wild Bunch founder Milo Johnson AKA DJ Nature provides wigged-out Martian house by way of New York – which, in one of Krust’s many thematic circles – echoes the Latin-tinged, blunted science of Nu Yorican Soul’s classics ‘Mind Fluid’ and ‘The Nervous Track’.

Skream continues to add to his growing multi-genre IFEEL back catalogue this July with the two track Instakord. Soon to land on his brand new imprint, IFEEL, the release also includes a remix by Berlin based Minimal Violence.

A brooding techno number, rattling hats reside atop frenetic kick-hat combos. Rolling synths soon cascade into volleys of claps, creating an emotive, fast-paced cut while Minimal Violence’s remix takes on an industrial edge, upping the tempo with breaks-inspired percussion and a pummeling underlying groove. The result is a hard-edged dancefloor weapon that leaves few prisoners in its wake.

We premiere a remix from the legendary DJ and producer Deetron today, as he remixes Dukwa’s huge 'My Journey Into Eternity' anthem.

Dukwa’s huge 'My Journey Into Eternity' continues to stake its claim as one of the most memorable records of the last year, as hypnotic house maestro Deetron delivers a stunning brand new remix.

Built around a triumphant piano line that stands as one of the biggest house hooks in recent memory, Dukwa’s 'My Journey Into Eternity' was an anthem in the making for a summer than sadly never happened. With clubs closed and the Ibiza season a false start, the record never hit the heights it could have done: in Annie Mac’s words “it's just such a moment of a record”.

Picked up by Undisputed Music and released alongside a brand new Groove Armada remix which landed back in July, 'My Journey Into Eternitys' time in the sun continues unabated with Deetron’s new reimagining.

Swiss DJ/producer Deetron is heavily inspired by the Detroit techno scene. Active since the '90s, his productions have evolved from tough, heavily percussive tracks to warmer, more soulful compositions, rich with melodies and sunny chords.

His remix puts his own unique twist on the signature chords of the original, upping the tempo and adding dramatic strings and a huge breakdown, resulting in a deeply hypnotic, euphoric new version of this iconic track.

With 'Sanctuary' we welcome back Betoko in collaboration with Dear Deer head honcho Alex Kaspersky, as well as George Absent to ICONYC. The trio, who don't need any introduction, as they are universally known, treat us with a brand-new track that oozes class and sophistication. 'Sanctuary' features rich driving textures; as well as euphoric and moody deep house vibes to satisfy ambient, uplifting and feel good needs, which are the keywords for this beautiful and extraordinary release.

Betoko, Alex & George open proceedings with their smashing original mix. The trio's maturity and musical development is in full swing, they kick off with a deep, hypnotic beat which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound floaty grooves and indie influences, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. Utilizing a hypnotizing groove as the basis of the original underpinned by a rumbling bass that gradually eases its way to the breakdown of breaks percussive elements before unleashing into a rising melodic hook intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect.

Italian Maegrit's interpretation opens proceedings on the remix front; he hits all the right chords from the word go. Maegrit's deep entry is interspersing with roomy glowing drive, filtered stabs and stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement, with the understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along. He manages to keep the energy up, allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser.

German based Larsun Hesh's sound is a tough thing to pin down. He is a unique act in the sense that emotionally his creations carry quite a large scope. He is not afraid to explore esoteric or introspective themes and the end result is always a compelling one. Such is the case with his remix of Sanctuary, which carries many of his most loved production hallmarks. From a warm, meaty low end to icy atmospherics and an effects storyboard to get lost in, there is certainly a lot to like. The main break is perhaps the high point, with the mood shifting from emotive to ominous with an effortless ease. It's something you rarely see and he's pulled it off beautifully here.

With 'Sanctuary' Betoko, Alex Kaspersky & George Absent show that there're no boundaries, as this beautiful deep melodic release will leave you with many smile induced moments! 'Sanctuary' sees a worldwide release on October 19th, 2020 via all well-known digital content providers. Not to be missed.
