By now we have become used to sudden changes of direction; but we’d already gathered his real intentions following the popular remix of “Lonely Stars In Open Skies” on All Day I Dream with which Luca jump started 2014.

Now OVO, the eagerly awaited new Luca Bacchetti EP, is here!

With this work on his ENDLESS imprint, Luca seems to be delineating a new soundscape, maintaining the psychedelia he introduced into his productions a few years ago; but now more synthetic and in some ways even minimalist.
In OVO we can find a brace of dancefloor tracks, No Gravity and The Space Between Us, that maintain and harness Luca's emotional and intricate atmospheres whilst also employing powerful sounds and elements that embrace the movement of the body. Mature, emotional Techno, where ethereal dream-like atmospheres find a singular expression and their own distinct identity. It is no coincidence that the whole EP was recorded entirely high up in the Tosco Emiliano Apennines: a place where, for Luca, Nature is the element that most influences this new aural pathway. As he himself states: “It’s this contrast between isolated lands and the chaos of the big city that produces this state of being: a new dialogue. They are two worlds which overlap within my soul: when I’m in New York I think of these mountains and when I’m here I think of the bustle of tour life .. but it’s up here that I find the seed, in this case OVO.”

The beautiful ambient masterpiece, OVO, was recorded in December 2013 and features Stefano Onorati, jazz musician and long time friend of Luca. The 15 minute opus was then finished in April 2014 and now sees its unveiling.

Masterminded by Lazarus the album brings together a wide assortment of vocalists, collaborators and players from around the world. Taking inspiration from Lazarus's Lazpod series, Get Lost events and Day Zero festival in Mexico, this is music for deserts, jungles and sunrises.

Kicking off in LA, Lazarus was joined at the production controls by James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Florence) as the album moved to London, and then final recording sessions completed in Mexico.

The resulting album, ‘Message From the Other Side’, is a revelation. It runs the gamut from the wonderful Qawwali-flavoured techno of the single ‘Lovers Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya)’ to the African-tinged house of ‘Sacred Dance of the Demon’ to the dense dark ambient of ‘Inner Core’, and a whole lot else. It’s a truly original piece of music from a DJ-producer always driven by a desire to break new ground and, as importantly, have fun with such adventures

The resulting album, ‘Message From the Other Side’, is a revelation. It runs the gamut from the wonderful Qawwali-flavoured techno of last year’s alternative dance hit ‘Lovers Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya)’ to the African-tinged house of ‘Sacred Dance of the Demon’, dense dark ambient of ‘Inner Core’, and the bubbling depths of forthcoming single Vermillion, this is a rich and ambitious album. Lazarus brought together the widest range of musicians to achieve his goals. Initially there was Moses Sumney, an LA singer-songwriter and guitarist whose vocals light up the dynamic deep house groove of ‘Vermillion’, and the epic closing number, ‘Tangled Web’. Lazarus’s long-standing friend and associate Ali Love, contributes vocals to the soulful groove of ‘We Will Return’. Other collaborations came from further afield. Hossam Ramzy, an Egyptian master- percussionist, most famous for his work on Jimmy Page and Robert Plant’s ‘No Quarter’ album laid down the amazing rhythm tracks for the Ancient Moons. ELEW (Eric Lewis), an American jazz pianist played a ‘treated piano’ in an unexpected, experimental way. Lazarus and Ford turned to Andrew Waterworth, double bassist with the acclaimed Penguin Café for the album’s lush string arrangements courtesy of Mexico’s Yucatan Symphony Orchestra.

Its crazy that this came out almost 10 years ago and was written 12 years ago. I make such different musical choices now. I'd love to go back and look at the Reason file for this and see what my work flow then was like. I was just starting to get a grasp of sequencing and computer music back then.

"I wrote this song in 2002 as the score to a film by Jackie Tedja. The film was never transferred to video." (taken from my website from 2003 or 2004). It was also licensed as part of the score for Twixt. Also also, I found this video that this guy made:

Connor Kizer is a wonderful man and at this stage in my life I would love to see him wearing lots of bead jewelry. 

The track is actually titled "Connor Kizer with Bead Jewelery" because I am awful at spelling things correctly but I was too embarrassed to post the wrong track title again. Back in 2004 when this was I was more into keep typos and embracing them as non-traditional ways of spelling. Now I just feel like a goon.
