DakhaBrakha is a quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine, experimenting with Ukrainian folk music since the group's inception in 2004, combining an array of instruments from around the world with powerful and uncompromising vocal performances. For the latest release on their ever-impressive Human By Default imprint, label heads Bedouin rework four tracks from DakhaBrakha’s catalogue, fusing the captivating vocals and instrumentation of the quartet with their pitch-perfect production.

Leading the A-side is their reinterpretation of ‘Salgir Boyu’, with shuffling percussion and organic loops providing the backdrop for stunning elements of the original to shine. The rework of ‘A Doshchuk Nakrapaye’ follows, with DakhaBrakha’s vocals fading in and out of the background as Bedouin’s gentle synthesis and evolving drums carry the track. On the flip, ‘Svyryd’ sees hypnotic drones and bright shakers evolve alongside a rolling bassline before closer ‘Yahudky’ seeks more electronic territories, bringing tense strings and unfurling synths together to see out the release.

Carl Cox & Commix remix Radio Slave’s ‘Stay Out All Night’

Initially released in 2020 via his own Rekids, ‘Stay Out All Night’ is one of Radio Slave’s biggest tracks todate, alongside timeless cuts such as ‘Grindhouse’, ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’, and ‘Another Club’. Recruiting Carl Cox & Commix for remix duties, ‘Stay Out All Night (Remixes)’ sees two varied dancefloor-focused revisions drop this February on 12”.

Leading the pack, Carl Cox steps up to the plate fresh from the release of his ‘Oh yes, oh yes!’ book. The People’s Choice delivers a lively 4/4 interpretation, flipping the syncopated breaks of the original into astomping blend of house and techno destined for dancefloor decimation.

Tibi Dabo unveils ‘Licht’, the first of three singles taken from his forthcoming debut album ‘Vista’ on Crosstown Rebels.

Barcelona-born, Berlin-based producer and tastemaker Tibi Dabo walks the line between classic and cutting-edge sonics, journeying deep into rich textures, merging the past, present and future. With a formal background playing the drums and touring Europe and the US with his band, he also has a deep love of electronic music, which leads to a never-ending and absorbing string of experimentation across his material under the Tibi Dabo alias. 

Releasing a wealth of material on his adopted home label Crosstown Rebels over the years, including original material and remixes of Guti & Dubshape, Carl Craig & Dubfire, and the label boss himself, it makes sense that Damian Lazarus’ renowned imprint welcomes his debut album later in the year. The long-player is set to showcase some of his strongest and most creatively unrestricted material to date and offer up a statement body of work, hinted at and previewed by this superb first single ‘Licht’ - his first material back on the label since 2022’s excellent ‘Isla’ EP.

“Licht, meaning light, is a fitting title for the first single that opens the door and illuminates what I like to describe as a cluboriented, multicoloured safari of an album” - Tibi Dabo.

The majestic ‘Licht’ is a mellifluous mix of lithe synth work and rubbery basslines that are fluid as can be. The tightly interwoven groove bubbles zip amongst radiant energy as wispy synths break out. It’s a sublime and supple concoction that cannot fail to make you want to cut loose on the dance floor and get lost in its subtle cosmic radiance and a charming first offering from the new school tastemaker’s forthcoming LP.

It's been 10 years since their last release on 20/20 Vision, but it is with great excitement that we welcome Spirit Catcher back to the label with their aptly named Blast From The Past EP! 

As one of the corner stones of 20/20, their early singles and album are legendary label artefacts and these guys were total pioneers of the cosmic, disco infused house sound which then became prominent in following years. 

Blast From The Past has been getting heavy rotation in Ralph Lawson's sets over the summer and so we're really glad to finally see it reach the light of day. This one is a trip into hyperspace with cosmic synth pulses leading the way before a killer bass line takes you track straight to planet Spirit Catcher! 

On the flip Closer takes the trip further with more expert bass hooks being joined by vox pads and otherwordly fx. The EP is finished off with Routing Madness, a homeage to the duos love for analogue studio gear which you can hear in the intricate synth patterns which pop and weave through the tracks duration.

Berlin based DJ and producer Patryk Molinari steps up for remix duties and gives Verana his 303 Treatment. Patryk knew electronic music would be a big part of his life from an early age. His late teenage years would become the moment he realised this passion was so strong and he started to produce his own music. He was influenced by the Big Beat scene but soon discovered house music opting for the deeper shades within the genre. He has released a plethora of top notch cuts across various labels in the last several years and shows no signs of letting up, definitely an artist to keep tabs on. As you'd expect from the remix title we're treated to a healthy dose of vintage 303 acid. A chunky kick drum leads the way as a meandering acid line coasts in the background over a superb thick bass. Cool FX, gated synths and swirling pads add colourful textures but it's the acid that gets under your skin giving this track a unique flavour. Top notch stuff you do not want to miss.

Tibi Dabo returns to Crosstown Rebels with his second EP of the year The Distance We Share. His third EP will follow in the Autumn in advance of his debut album forthcoming in 2021. Globally revered American producer David Morales turns in two outstanding remixes that demonstrate contrasting aspects of his illustrious career.

The Distance We Share sees beautiful melodies standing both individually and combined to create an ethereal atmosphere. Starting with golden keys that drop into a twinkling lullaby, rising and falling throughout the track before ending with danceable energy. Komorebi opens with melancholic chords, the bassline moves at a relaxed pace over a rhythm of hi-hats and cowbell, sensual distorted vocals and delicate chimes induce a feeling of romance. The first remix of Komorebi from David Morales sees him add his legendary Red Zone stamp of New York influenced house music, building tension with darker tones, chugging percussion and hypnotic loops. On the Diridim Mix Morales turns the vibe to that of his newest label, with classic soulful electronics adding a deep sense of warmth.

Still in its infancy, the Tibi Dabo project from Max Guardans has seen his unique emotive take on electronic music and sound design catch the attention of influential figureheads. His debut release the Ende EP on Sasha's Last Night on Earth imprint demonstrating his remarkable talent. With his determined attitude and unrelenting thirst for exploration impressing respected tastemaker Damian Lazarus, he was immediately signed to Crosstown Rebels. His last two EP’s Her Moon and Disbelieve on the imprint, initiating a run of unrelenting form that marks the start of big things to come.
