Since the release of her 2013 breakout Pushin’ Against A Stone, June has been patiently at work in the garden of song, nurturing seedlings with love and care into the lush bloom that is her stunning new album, The Order Of Time. Some songs grew from seeds planted more than a decade ago, others blossomed overnight when she least expected them to, but every track bears the influence of time. Much like songbird Edith Piaf, Madeleine Peyroux spent her teenage years busking the busy streets of Paris. Just like the ‘little sparrow’, Madeleine befriended the city’s street musicians and made its Latin quarter her first performing stage. Years later, Peyroux would cite iconic Piaf as an influence on her music and record a rendition of the classic La Vie En Rose, soulfully capturing the tune’s romanticism and melancholy.
 
Born in Athens, Georgia in 1974, Madeleine “grew up in a house filled with music” and from an early age “instinctively realised music’s soothing power” but it was her teenage years in the French capital that turned the childhood notion into an all-consuming vocation for life.

Young Madeleine moved to Paris with her mother in 1987 following her parents divorce. “To soothe me during the upheaval”, she recalls, “I was given a guitar and took to playing in the streets almost immediately.”

Thirty years after her formative busking days Peyroux is the proud curator of nine beguiling albums and an accomplished performer with sell out worldwide tours under her belt. Her atmospheric version of Serge Gainsborough’s La Javanaise was used in the soundtrack of Oscar Winner The Shape of Water and her countless accolades
include the coveted BBC International Artist Of The Year honour.
 
Madeleine’s thirst for creative exploration is unfading and her willingness to face creative challenges remains as solid now as it was three decades ago.

With endearing passion and great curiosity the unstoppable genre-defying virtuoso continues her search for the good and examines life with the treasured William Congreve belief that Music has charms to soothe the savage beast.

Crown Brass is fast gaining a reputation as one of the most engaging and diverse young chamber ensembles around, with a particular passion and ability for the commission, interpretation and performance of Contemporary Music. With a strong desire to take the brass quintet out of its comfort zone, Crown Brass aims to stretch boundaries, in a bid to make the brass quintet a truly respected chamber ensemble. 

Since its formation in late 2012, at Manchester’s prestigious Royal Northern College of Music, the ensemble has built up an impressive cliental, which includes Rocco Forte Hotels, Hilton Hotels, Wedding Planners, Charities, Schools, Councils, Music Societies, the Aristocracy and the British Royal Family. With an eclectic repertoire which spans from Renaissance Polyphony to Lady Gaga and One Direction, the ensemble has been described as ‘having a unique ability to create positive energy in any space’.

As individual performers, interests include jazz, conducting and composition. Tuba player Toby Butt has composed for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Rachel Allen has sat as Guest Principal Trombone with many of the North West’s most distinguished brass bands, and has recently played Principal Trombone with the RNCM Concert Orchestra. Trumpeter Aaron Wood is a highly active on the Manchester Jazz scene and Matthew Head has recently returned from Palestine, where he was invited to be Guest Principal Horn of the Palestine Youth Orchestra for their summer concerts under the baton of Sian Edwards. Ben Conway has conducted a number of the local amateur orchestras, as well as giving solo performances of the Haydn and Harry James Trumpet Concertos during his time at the RNCM Junior School. Further to this, Ben has raised thousands of pounds for various UK Charities, most recently for the Macmillan Nurses.

In a busy year which includes giving recitals and workshops up and down the country, Crown Brass has continued to promote new music, commissioning composers Sarah Gait, Thomas Brown and Dave Collins to write for the group, with many more discussions still taking place. Other forthcoming projects include a performance and recording of John McCabe's brass music, a concert with the acclaimed Monteverdi Singers, education workshops in schools around Manchester and a performance of Adam Schoenberg's Reflecting Light.

Crown Brass is grateful to the RNCM for its ongoing support, in particular to the individual guidance of the Head of Wind Brass and Percussion, Professor John Miller and tutor John Dickinson. 


The Strypes are 4-piece rhythm and blues band hailing from Cavan, Ireland, formed in 2011 by Ross Farrelly (lead vocals/harmonica), Josh McClorey (lead guitar/vocals), Pete O'Hanlon (bass guitar/harmonica) and Evan Walsh (drums).

The group has spent the past 18 months launching their explosive R&B assault on the clubs and festivals of Ireland, the UK and Europe, viciously hammering out a no-nonsense blues repertoire drawing from the songbooks of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Slim Harpo and more with the passion and venom of British blues groups such as Dr. Feelgood, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones and The Animals. 

Having already been met with critical acclaim from greats such as Jeff Beck and Paul Weller and been tipped by NME as the No. 1 new band to watch, it seems things can only get better for The Strypes.

Winner of the Queen Elisabeth (2009) and Yehudi Menuhin Competitions (2008), Ray Chen is among the most compelling young violinists today.   “Ray has proven himself to be a very pure musician with great qualities such as a beautiful youthful tone, vitality and lightness.   He has all the skills of a truly musical interpreter,” said the great Maxim Vengerov.
Ray has released two critically acclaimed albums on Sony: a recital program “Virtuoso” of works by Bach, Tartini, Franck, and Wieniawski, and the Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky concertos with Swedish Radio Orchestra and Daniel Harding.   Following the success of these recordings, Ray was profiled by The Strad and Gramophone magazines as “the one to watch”.   “Virtuoso” was distinguished with the prestigious ECHO Klassik award.   He is currently working on his third, all-Mozart album with Christoph Eschenbach and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, slated for release later this year.
Ray continues to win the admiration of fans and fellow musicians worldwide.   In 2012, he became the youngest soloist ever to perform in the televised Nobel Prize Concert for the Nobel Laureates and the Swedish Royal Family.   His Carnegie Hall debut with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and Sakari Oramo, as well as his sold-out Musikverein concert with the Gewandhaus Orchestra and Riccardo Chailly were met with standing ovations.   Since the 2012- 13 season, Ray has been invited to join Konzerthaus Dortmund's series “Junge Wilde,” which presents young and groundbreaking artists in Germany.   Later this season, Ray will make his San Francisco recital debut at the SF Jazz Center. He also looks forward to his upcoming recital tour of Australia and his debuts with the Orchestre National de France and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Followed by over 500,000 people on SoundCloud, Ray Chen looks to expand the classical music audience by increasing its appeal to the young generation via all available social media platforms.   He is the first ever classical musician to be invited to write a regular blog about his life as a touring soloist for the largest Italian publishing house, RCS Rizzoli (Corriere della Sera, Gazzetta dello Sport, Max).   In his unstinting efforts to break down barriers between classical music, fashion and pop culture, he is supported by Giorgio Armani and was recently featured in Vogue magazine.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Australia, Ray was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music at age 15, where he studied with Aaron Rosand and was supported by Young Concert Artists.   He plays the 1702 "Lord Newlands" Stradivarius violin on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
