Cruft is what happens when two long-time music friends – Bengt Stenhammar and Per Åsberg – hit record, ignore genre boundaries, and drink a bit too much coffee (or whisky, depending on the time of day). Occasionally, Caroline Sparrhammar joins in to add a much-needed touch of vocal elegance.

Every track is usually written and recorded from scratch in a single intense session – usually under 16 hours. The result? Often a surprise to us too.

We don’t stick to one style because we don’t feel just one thing. Some feelings need distorted guitars. Others demand synths, brass sections or a whispered groove. Cruft is our way of staying honest – musically and emotionally.

AI sometimes helps us shape the sound, but the madness is entirely ours.
