Our 44th Astrocast comes courtesy of Joseph Marinetti. A producer of many styles and aliases, his most recent work exudes a hyper melodic, bright and frenetic style not too dissimilar from something you may hear in a department store in Shibuya. His recent "PDA EP" released on LuckyMe illustrates this perfectly - plus the cover art is some of the best we've ever seen.

This ASTROCAST is a live recording from his set at our party at Baby's All Right on 11/20/14 and coincidentally his first ever set using CDJs (spoiler: he slayed on em).

Klute's taste and the man's command of intricate, rowdy and yet still quite slinky drum & bass music has long had him up on the underground pedestal. His Commercial Suicide label, as the name suggests, takes risks on releasing music for (and by) people who appreciate the finer workings of face paced, jungle influenced soundsystem music. But that doesn't mean that what he makes, releases and plays is necessarily a combination of any of those things. And whilst I appreciate that there's a sense of sweeping disregard in that last statement, there was definitely meant to be - Klute's consistently remained relevant by being resolute, sticking to his guns and working with music he believes in. 

That concentrated focus is undoubtedly one thing he shares with a lot of people who run a lot of record labels - or run their own operations for the upkeep of their own sanity - but when you think about the legacy of drum & bass, which is by design quite a young genre, there's a real synergy between Klute's operation and that of Goldie's Metalheadz label. Fastidious and committed to the advancement of their chosen form of music, the two parties feel like they were made for each other; which is why we're stoked to welcome Klute to the next Metalheadz takeover of Room One on 1st May. His appearance on that lineup really does tick a whole lot of d&b boxes, so we reached out and asked him if he wanted to do something to mark the occasion. He did this...

A quick glance at the recent stream of premium quality drum and bass coming from Digital and the imprint he started with Brillo back in 1995: Function Records, shows a testament to his timelessness in this music. 2015 brought us the enormous return of Function Records for it’s 20th year in the business, sporting releases such as: ‘Respek Da Foundation’ featuring Dub Phizix’s brutal rewiring of Digital’s classic ‘Deadline’, collaborations with Response and Drumsound Bassline Smith, and the debut EP from the newly formed trio of Digital, Flava and Horrific James who come together as Trident Code. Digital himself has been prolifically producing for the past 20 years and has developed a back catalogue that rivals any producer in the drum and bass scene past or present. That's why the news of of the release of lots of his back catalogue on Bandcamp and functionrecords.co.uk has got us massively hyped up here at In-Reach. Digital kicks off next week with release of the mighty Dubzilla Album.

To celebrate this release, Digital has laid down an absolutely outrageous guest mix with some dubbed out mixing, heaps of classics and some unreleased tracks that take us through his past 15 years of production. Check below for some absolute Fire!

Here's a brand new Bassic mix from one of our freshest recruits - Kyrist.

Over the last few years Kyrist has built up a reputation for her trademark style which mainly focuses on the darker and more tech-driven side of drum and bass, and in the process has seen her tunes included in the sets of some of the scenes most respected DJ's.

Labels such as Proximity, Nurtured Beatz, Vandal, Dutty Audio and of course Dispatch have been the foundation of Kyrist's success, and releases on those imprints coupled with her razor sharp mixing skills are the reason why she's so highly rated and heavily tipped as one for the future. However, people won't have to wait long to see what Kyrist has been up to in the studio recently with a Dispatch EP nearing completion and set for release later this year.
