This represents the best hour or so of what was initially the longest soundcheck of all time. Its 100 percent off the cuff ( apart from the crude editing) and the voices were dubbed on later to enable this show to be broadcast on the "pitchless" show , www.illfm.net , 27/10/10. seriously WRONG tekno going on here, enjoy!!!!

[ LIVE MATERIAL SERIES N°8 ]

Hi everyone. Today I'm glad to present you the eighth of the 'Live Material Series'. Wildfire Part 8 (Sunet Mix) is one of my favorites from this series, first of all because of its happy, positive mood. Actually it's probably the only live mix from the series that is both slower and softer than the original track it comes from.

For those who don't remind precisely the original version of Wildfire Part 8, it is a mix between classic acid techno sounds and very soft, innocent synth melodies. What I wanted when creating this live version was to reuse the innocent melodies but in a less frenetic context, so they would get more space to evolve. To do this, I took the melodies, I slowed down the tempo from 137 to 121 BPM, and I created a new house-like beat with this kind of typical groovy hihats. I then recreated new acid parts that suited this new beat. All of this resulted in some kind of acid house vibe which I instantly liked. I did remove it since then, but I remember that it was very well received by the audience back then. I guess it is because it was bringing some kind of 'happy break' in the middle of a 1 hour, sometimes 2 hours-long explosion of aggressive acid patterns and melodramatic melodies.

Even if it is far from the music I'm creating these days, I'm happy that this live version of Wildfire Part 8 is finally available. First because it is a peculiar piece of the whole Wildfire story, but also because it reminds me a lot of beautiful rave and club memories, which is especially precious these days.
