The Gritty Tales of Resilience podcast shares conversations with innovators of subcultures, politicians, and educators about resilience. Hosted by Reina Robinson, MA, we create alternative media from underrepresented viewpoints of marginalized groups. We want to engage and activate urban communities dealing with lack of hope and foresight.

Reina has a B.A. in Ethnic Studies, Black Studies, Genders and Sexualities in Communities of Color minor, and a Master of Arts degree in Communication. She is a Community Resiliency Model (CRM) trainer certified through the Trauma Resource Institute and the Executive Director of the Center for Urban Excellence. The Center for Urban Excellence’s mission is to foster resilience and educate justice involved youth about economic and social opportunities.

The COMM-Unity podcast serves the purpose of democratizing the future for Black students to create engaging spaces to pursue communication. This is the first communication studies department podcast within the CSU system. We are representing the Cal State University East Bay Pioneers Community and the city of Hayward, California. Everyone has a voice, and every informed voice should be heard.
