All 3 of my PowerDub creations. First original one back in 2010 was by far the most successful mix (1500 plays/DLs) but also hand burnt 400 or so CDs and labels which took forever which were handed around the clubs in Melbourne and lead to a tonne of huge gigs (16 Bit, Datsik, Funtcase, Flux, SPL and tonne more) plus secured a weekly residency with All City Bass (Twisted Audio's Dubstep project @ Brown Alley) and even did Datsik's Triple J NYE mix in 2012 when he miss the deadline.
Gave it a follow up in 2011 plus a whole new one in late 2017.

So it was time for a new PowerDub mix, I've been promising it for 4 years and finally had a few beers and just did it. Turns out Dubstep got a lot faster (140bpm to 150bpm) and the songs got shorter (from 4-5 minutes to 3 minutes so a bit harder to get tricky). The tunes are tight and energetic, good for the gym, car or whatever the fuck you wanna do really.

Originally broadcast on the legendary Kool FM Midlands back in 2002, this show was recorded on cassette by DJ Sypha.

The Mix Down Hour was planned to be a dedicated monthly mix session on the station. Only 2 of those happened.

18 years later, the cassette was unearthed and on 27th April 2020, the recording was sent to FuZion. Now remastered, here it is for your listening pleasure.

Hope you all enjoy this slice of history, which was broadcast 3 weeks to the day before the last DTI raid on Kool FM Midlands, eventually taking the giant down.

The Mix Down Hour - Part 2, Kool FM (02/03/2002)

ctoafn (Couldn't Think Of A F%#king Name) has been a DJ and promoter for the last 18 years in Melbourne moving back home to Adelaide January 2016 and back to Melbourne late 2021). He was the man behind Collateral Damage and Therapy Sessions Melbourne representing the darkside of drum n bass and has toured/supported acts including Dylan, Limewax, Current Value, Audio, Robyn Chaos, The Sect, Raiden, The Panacea, Dom & Roland, SPL and more. He also promoted and supported the "original and infamous" Spor & Ewun show @ The Palace, Evol Intent, John B, Apex (Unknown Error) and Telemetrik to name a few.

After giving up promoting in 2009 (except for the odd warehouse party) ctoafn spent a lot of time successfully getting his brand of bass music to the masses - Fast and furious mixing, dancefloor filling, bass ridden, filthy yet funky bass ;-) Whether its DnB, Dubstep, Glitch Hop, Moombahton or Breaks you are bound to hear it all.

His "PowerDub" mix released in July 2010 has received props from across the globe with thousands of downloads, CDs etc and then stepped it up and went onto 3 decks for the 2nd PowerDub Mixtape.

This led to playing for all of the large Melbourne bass music crews like Tekstep, BBA, Heavy Innit, The Operatives, PTA as well as Bass Elements & Enchanted Forest in Adelaide, Earth Frequency Festival in Brisbane, Dark Hearts in Christchurch. He then moved back to his home town of Adelaide to perform with Bass Element & The Collective which in the process across Melbourne & Adelaide been given the responsibility to warm up or close for a 'who's who' of D&B & Dubstep acts including Noisia, Calyx & Teebee, S.P.Y, Dillinja, Dub Phizix & Strategy, Rene La Vice, LTJ Bukem, Spectrasoul, DRS, Datsik, 16 Bit, SPL, Funtcase, Gemini, Audio/Pixel Fist, Phaeleh, Current Value, Dieselboy, State Of Mind, Evol Intent, Mefjus, Stickybuds, Emperor, InsideInfo, Cooh/Balkansky, Xilent, Fred V & Grafix, The Upbeats, Black Sun Empire, DC Breaks, Ivy Lab, Ekko & Sidetrack, Trei, Brookes Brothers, Annix, Jade, Teddy Killerz & Tantrum Desire. Even got to do a NYE mix for Triple J !
